I expect Houllier to still be at the club in August with a completely new team. But should Randy et al blow it up, then a real push for Moyes might be the best option. Moyes isn't perfect, and I'm still very worried about his ability to spend big money, as a good number of his big money moves haven't exactly panned out. That said, he's the right age, and he'd be at a club that can take him to where he wants to be. He's aggressive and can spot talent in the lower leagues, plus he'll also have no issue bringing kids through. I think he fits the mould to what we we're trying to do perfectly. I never thought for a minute he'd have quit on his club in August, but he might be tempted in June/July.

There's always a totally irrational reason to dislike managers, and therefore rule them out.

Coyle - funny hair. There's something not quite right about it.
Moyes - looks like someone from Lord of the Rings. Stares too much.
Allardyce - stupid fucking bluetooth ear piece (plus about 6,000 valid football reasons)
O'Neill - well, where to begin on this one, there's no need for the irrationals, they're all entirely rational in his case.
Kevin Mac, Sid - out of respect, I shall decline to comment.
Hughes - looks far too much like Ailsa from Home and Away.
Jol - looks too much like Mutley from Dastardly and Mutley.

Moyes' main problem is that he can't buy a decent striker. Fortunately, we've got a really good, really expensive one already here.

I like him (irrational concerns as outlined above apart). If we do have a new manager, and we stay up, my money is going on him.

I think it should be written into his contract that he's not allowed to buy forwards for the club. That this task be handed to off to someone else. The janitor, even tea lady. Nicola Keye comes to mind as a better choice. But on everything else he'd be a solid apppointment.

surprised by the voting that 3 times more people prefer houllier to sparky hughes, coyle and moyes leading the way is about right i think.

maybe if owen coyle  got his false teeth reset it would appease his knockers?

interestingly gus hiddink has said hes about to quit turkey apparently.

If we go down, you'd probably need a different list of poytential managers because none of the above would come. The short list then would be the likes of Curbishley, Southgate, Hughton, Jewell, Burley, Davies, Clough, Coleman etc etc

You're taking the piss.
He's been terrible at Derby.
Took him ages to get Burton into the League and only did it when he was given Ł.

He's shown absolutely nothing to prove he could be a decent manager.

Curbishley - has that annoying Cockney trait of saying Burmenum.  If you can't pronounce the name of the city you work in, you shouldn't be allowed in.

Yep agree with all of the above.

Moyes will probably have his eyes on a step up the ladder so either the Spurs job when Arry joins the England camp or CiŁy when Mancini gets the bullett

who the fack voted Houlier

Me.

Me too.

If we stay up he deserves a little more time. More uncertainy and changes off the field is exactly what Villa does not need this summer, unless it is absolutely necessary.

If we go down then I think all his supporters will have no excuses, and the club will need drastic change.

Not sure who i want but i know who i don't want.

Hughes for starters. Arent there parallels between what he's done aty Fulham amnd what Houllier has done with us? inherited a relativelty sound side and put them in reverse?

And what worried me about us if we do stay up is that houllier will be given more time instead of being sacked on the spot when the final whistle blows in May.

By the way, Moyes reminds me of E.T.
