Walsall Banks's Stadium Up For Sale
« on: March 21, 2011, 01:49:24 PM »
From todays' Times business pages:

"It is not at first glance, the sort of thing that seems likely to attract a budding Roman Abramovitch or Sheikh Mansour - if indeed, it attracts a glance at all from passing drivers cursing all that is worst about Midlands motoring - but the relatively humble home of Walsall Football Club is up for sale.

Not the club, mind, but the Banks's Stadium, its home ground a stone's throw from the M6, all the venue's associated conferencing facilities, the supporters' club, an all-weather training facility and surrounding land that can accommodate about 1,000 cars on match days.

And, guaranteed to attract a motorist's glance and more, the "M6 Spectacular", Britain's largest permanent free-standing advertising structure. The 8,396 sq ft hoarding is on the motorway just up from its intersection with the M5, considered one of the busiest junctions in Europe, and as such is highly coveted.

I would like to see somebody come in and pump some money into them and take them forward.
