Ash hadn't really taken that many and I remember his missing a few now so I would definately give them to bent or someone else, I've never had confidence in ash as a penalty taker.

Ash should be off them, he puts them in the same spot every time, just too predictable.

He'd scored the previous 4.

If the free kicks are anything to go by then Ash can miss as many pens as he wants, no-one else will get a sniff.

He may have scored 4 but I remember him missing at least 3 for villa and I doubt he's taken as many as 10- that's a poor penalty taking record,.

He's the least convincing penalty taker I think we've had since, ooh, Juan Pablo Angel.

I would give the penalty job to Darren Bent now.

Ashley's penalty taking has never inspired me with confidence.  As I said on the post-match thread, your penalty taker needs to be a nine-out-of-tenner.  Ashley isn't that.

Giving the responsibility to him is just another manifestation of how he's now allowed to take every dead-ball kick within goal-scoring range, regardless of the fact that he's become increasingly ineffectual.

Bent's missed a few. I'm sure he missed 2 in a game last year

Give it someone who'll leather it down the middle like Barry used to, and Carew IIRC. Keepers usually move one way or the other so they're out of the way, but if they happen to get a touch on it the power should take it through.  Maybe Downing?

He has scored his last four in fairness and all well taken, but like someone has hinted, he put it in the same spot again and the keeper has obviously done his homework beforehand.

Let's face it, if someone else had taken it and missed, we would have been asking why Ash had'nt taken it.

He needs to be taken off free kicks though.

Give it to Bent , If Ash is fooking off in the summer.     I think thats the problem with AshY taking everything , Houlier is letting him get what he wants , hoping he will sign a new contract.    Not that I have a problem with that , as long as the set pieces and corners he takes were actually good.

At least he did hit the target unlike that pathetic Carew effort on Tyneside, I do however feel we need a new penalty taker .
