I hope we're better next season, but unfortunately that's all it is - hope!I can see where he adds value thus far (good transfer dealings and improved style of play) but what he seems to lack is that competitive edge and motivational skill needed. I look forward to more of his signings and more good football next season, but I think we'll get that and be using the word 'underachieved' a lot.
It's a tight league where one or two results going the other way can make a big difference. However, if we're going to do that then we should also ask ourselves where we'd be if one or two didn't go our way....

Brilliant post Norm, thanks for sharing. In your opinion, does this efficient-sounding system bear any resemblance to the shambolic rubbish that we are currently enduring? It didn't look much like zonal coverage to me when Nathan Baker was facing his own goal and vainly chasing Cahill around our box on Saturday.
I never thought I'd see the day where I would be in as much agreement as I am with Chris Smith!
The way I see it, and I know others will disagree with me, is as follows:-Villa squad after Martin left - 6thVilla squad after martin left, but without Milner - 8th Villa squad after Martin left, but without Milner and carrying injuries - 12th-15thVilla squad after Martin left, but without Milner and carry injuries, plus Bent - 9th-10thVilla squad after Martin left, but without Milner and injuries cleared up, plus Bent - 6th-8thNow, we can argue about what effect and for how long the injuries had, but ultimately a top half finish is not unrealistic given what he's had to work with at any given time during this season. Lets see if he can produce it.
