from WIKIPEDIA

On 9 August 2010, Martin O'Neill resigned as manager of Aston Villa with immediate effect.
On his departure O'Neill said "I have enjoyed my time at Aston Villa immensely, It's obviously a wrench to be leaving such a magnificent club."[ O'Neill was reportedly unhappy about the funds available for transfers, but his departure just five days before the start of the new season still came as a shock to the club and its players. Lerner issued a statement two days later saying he and O'Neill "no longer shared a common view as to how to move forward."

I think the disagreement boiled down to this

O'Neill wanted to bankrupt the club and Randy didn't.

I think he will get a pay-off of some kind, and I hope he invests it wisely.

I hope he shoves it up his arse.

If Mr O'Neill were my client, I would not hesitate to recommend a rectal deposit fund.
Ah yes, the sideways investment portfolio.

And if I were Villa I would pay it in 50p pieces

I want to take MON to court for nearly fucking something I love.  I also want to take Houlier to court for making me believe I was going to see the first team play last night only to see a tribute act in their place.

It's the Milner cash, pure and simple.

Walk out on a job and still get compensation. Only in football.....
As i've said numerous times, banking and football are the two industries that reward failure.

Only in football, banking, politics, the police force, green energy and farming

they're the only six industries that reward failure...

I very much doubt that MON would be able to construct a legal case about not getting the Milner bounty as a case of constructive dismissal, however I Would imagine that the appointment of Faulkner is legally/contractually more dubious as I would guess that there would have been a number or roles and responsibilities which overlap for each job description.

Having someone else do part of you job - so you are not able to - is arguably decent grounds for constructive dismissal (I would guess, I'm certainly no expert).

Can we not just give him Beye as a fairwell handshake and be done with it?

Bottling twat. His biggest 'achievement' was doing something a shit Blues team will do this season (and they actually won it, and will reach the FA Cup final), and he spent millions compared to McLeish.

He has gone down in my estimation now, I guess he needs the cash as he probably thought he would be in a new job by now!

O'Neill won't stand a chance.

He employs a total of seven lawyers, but mostly uses the one old bloke who he met on holiday in Bulgaria, he's not bad but he uses him for virtually every case, he's badly over worked and makes mistakes.

Villa win.

I hope you're right, but think MON may stand a chance, based on the vagaries of human nature. Seven lawyers? WTF does that say? To me it indicates someone who can't let go/move on, has to have the last word etc. I don't like the situation we're in at the moment, but I'm glad he's gone. He's better suited to the pettiness of local politics rather than football management.

Mon is a man who has great knowledge of the law and I'm sure he would be expecting to win his case , unless there's an out of court settlement it could all get quite revealing.
