Ash has got what 9 games tops with us left (assuming he doesn't get suspended / injured)
How committed will he be between now and his big money move ??

The team and lack of ambition to win things on Wednesday hammered the final nail into the coffin of Ash's Villa career for sure.  Players like him will stay if they think they can win things with us.  To win things you need that hunger and desire.  The culture at the Villa looks totally wrong if Wednesday is anything to go on.

If I were him i'd be off i'm afraid.

I think when a player as a Cup winning medal in his cabinet , it could make a player want to sign a new contract .  If a player knows he will never win a trophy with this club he will move on .

The people on here that are trying to justify our managers decision just dont get it, he killed a lot of supporters rationale for supporting the club, there is absoloutely no justification for Aston Villa to act in this cowardly and disrespectful way. You should read again what VCTM said, why on earth should any one comit to a club that is not commited to the majority of it supporters. Yesterday was one of the darkest days in our history and what is so sad about it was the fact that it was self inflicted.

No, no over-reaction here either.

I agree it's not an over reaction. The reason that it was one of the darkest days in our history is that not did we only let our own supporters down, we let every neutral football supporter in the country down particularly those who can't afford Sky who  want to watch a decent game on terrestrial TV. Beyond that we let down the FA, the sponsor, and ITV.

In essence we let the entire game down and it was an absolute disgrace.

I really can’t see how MON surrendered every other cup, Dave. We got to the final of the League Cup and had a decent pop at Man U who, notwithstanding a ludicrous bottling decision by the ref, were just too good for us, especially once Wazza came on, and we were Chelsea’s equals too until that poor header by Dunne gave Drogba a goal. Chelsea fans I know told me they were really worried until that goal as our team and fans were growing in confidence – our 5-6 minute version of “My Old Man” had them pleading with each other to make some noise. We lost both games but we certainly didn’t surrender them. Europe was a different matter, mind.

A day of venting our spleens is fine but now we need to focus on supporting the team tomorrow.  I fear some venom if we go a goal down, though.

Losing to Leicester and QPR at home means he hardly took it seriously.

And we're the only club who ever put out a weakened side?

I know that and I'm annoyed about what happened, but some of what's been said is a bit ridiculous.

We were lucky to beat Cardiff with a weakened team as well if memory serves me correctly.

Forget previous managers and other teams, in the context of Aston Villa and this season, it was a mind-boggling decision.

Very true, but we made a final and a semi last year. Achieving this once every 4 years (ie, MON's tenure) would be a good step towards a decent cup record for me.

Your point about some comments on here being ridiculous is spot on. I haven't seen any of the game over here, so defeat does hurt a little less than if you are in the ground or even watch it on the box - and suffer crappy jibes at work - but I have felt far, far lower than this on many occasions in the past 25 years.

i think mon took the fa cup a lot more seriously than the league cup, maybe because its eluded him as a player and manager , he always spoke very highly of the fa cup.

Going to Wembley was good, but noone remembers the losers except the losers. Win one of the cups every 4 seasons would be nice

We are Aston Villa and I was brought up to believe that we were a force for good in football.
