I would be more pissed off if we wern't 2 bad results away from being dangerously close to the bottom of the league.

Last night we gave up the chance to progress in a cup competition that we could win, to stay in a league that we can't.

What is the fuckin' point?

Whilst i never expected us to win last night, I'm disappointed that we again hand the opposition the game on a plate. 4 mins in, game over. Early doors you coul see fonz and herd we being over run down the left wing yet nothing is done about it why ? Itv must have been embarrassed at airing that no show
Bolton next, a very tough game which we will lose then 2 weeks of fuck all before a tough derby game
We are not out o this yet, buy I suspect many of our players are already on the beach

I was at work all night so didn't see the game (thankfully). I don't mind being beaten if we have a good go at it but from reading the thread it sounds like a weakened team was picked with capitulation being the outcome. I wonder when (and this applies to other teams as well) football clubs will see the supporters say "if you can't be arsed with trying why should we spend our hard earned week in week out."

I criticised MON over Moscow and rightly so. Houllier has disgusted me last night and I have backed him to the hilt despite some of the mud that was flinging his way. However, he's lost me now, just shows the that the Proud History Bright Future only matters if there is some sort of monetary value in the "Competitions"  that we compete in.

Sacking won't make a difference and we may well improve in the medium term, but the ethos of football these days and indeed the way that Our Club have brought into it,, means that it's gradually meaning f**k all to me these days.

My 2 renewed Season Tickets for next year can now kiss my Scrotum. I feel sorry for those that went last night ..  none of them deserved that  and Houllier et al do not indeed deserve the kind of Support that they are getting

My thoughts, and Ive avoided the site since the game because I can predict exactly what's been said.

- I was excited at the prospect of playing 4-3-3 and being aggressive but we didn't, it was more like 4-5-1 with strikers out of position. That was the first disappointment. I think Fonz and Gabby could really got at them if they were more advanced but we'd have been light in midfield. In which case use some of the actual wide midfielders we have.

- I applauded the the use of some of the younger players but suprised at so many at once.
Some were unavoidable but not all. Still, we have to try these guys out as we're going to have to use them and yes, the Premier League is not the arena to do this as we're not at all in a comfortable position yet, unfortunately.
It sucks but the Premier League is worth more than being in the Champions league and without it we cant be anything like a competitive club. Still, I sympathise with any view it may have been too much experimentation.

- Petrov was absolutely hopeless again and really shouldn't play for us any more, that was the second disappointment. Every time the ball went to him he lost it or slowed the attacks down by dithering on the ball.
He should have been the experience head to lead by example but was actually the weak link.

- The third disappointment was seeing Downing and Young come on when the cause was lost. Usually I can understand decisions even if I dont agree with them but I would need that one explaining to me to be honest. A bit embarrassing.

I wouldn't be too quick to judge a lot of these players. It wasn't all bad and we played some decent stuff in possession, even if we rarely hurt them. It was always going to be a difficult task even with our stongest team out, they can change their side completely and still have a top side out, but it would have been nice to have a real crack at these ****** and get Reading at home. Oh well.

I dont know. Mixed emotions but there you go. Can't help but feel disappointed.
Best forgotten about asap and look forwards.
It certainly was a minge day of sport. :(

Sums it up nicely, we were in a worse state league wise before the 3rd round so why not wave the white flag in that game.

Herd came out with a lot of credit but he did get a roasting in the first half, but then he was playing out of position.

If modern day football is about league placings and not day outs at Wembley or big quarter finals, I'll stay at home or go and watch someone who appreciates my money a bit more.

Ridiculous team selection.

We've gone from one Manager who wears down the same 11, to one who can't stop fucking about with the squad.
A real slap in the face to the poor fuckers that travelled up there.

Bradley was utterly shit, as were most of the others.
Bannan looked lively.

I can't believe he was saving players for the world beating Bolton.

It's been a terrible week.
Blues winning a trophy, revelations of a wage bill to turnover that matches Portsmouth and now this.

It's really not a good time to be a Villa supporter.

The day that the manager of Aston Villa Football Club decided that it wasn't worth trying to win the FA Cup is quite possibly my saddest day as a fan. Still, I look forward to 6th-16th in the league and not being relegated being added to our honours list.

And i'm left feeling, if they can't be bothered any more, why should I?
My thoughts exactly, well said. So I suppose we should all look forward to reminiscing about the great day we beat Bolton or drew with Wolves. If this is the future it's rubbish. Just ask our neighbours how much a cup run means compared to 3 points.
For what it's worth I would rather see Villa win the FA Cup and be relegated, at least I would have the memories and a sense of achievement.

With a wage bill that equates to nearly 90% of turnover, getting relegated would probably see us in administration.

Yeah, I saw us win at Walsall in it in the summer.

Won't bother with the Cup scheme next year then - if we're not going to bother taking it seriously.

Houllier should have to refund the fans that went out of his wages.

Pathetic, just when he was getting the fans onside and morale up, he surrenders to Man City.

Only good thing that can come from this is surely he realises that Petrov must  be gotten rid of now?

Which pretty much explains last nights motivation.
