totally effing gutted by this selection, win tonight and we have a glorious chance of a semi final, the selection has made this far less likely. Absolute bollocks.

As I said in the other thread.

4-3-3. Very gutsy indeed. Whether it works or not, I applaud the unpredicatability and faith in the squad.
The poker player in me loves it. It's a real gamble.
They might do better than a lot of folk think too.

Im with you Maz. Time for Bannan and Fonz to show us what they can do.

Just logged on to Bet365 for a bet. Luckily I checked the starting line-up first.

I don't think I'll have a bet now!

I see your point and in a way I agree, but it's more like pontoon than poker. Pontoon with a 22 card minimum.

"Martin O'Neill sticks with the same players all the time, they're all knackered and all know that they're guaranteed a start, booooo!"

"Gerard has rotated his squad to keep them fresh and encourage competition for places, booooo!"
^^ this

The middle ground would be nice. The two extreme ends of the scale aren't the only options.
Baker, Collins, Cuellar are all injured, Bent is cuptied, Makoun is suspended. I'd rather see Herd & Delph than Beye & Warnock. Fair play to Ged for the unpredictability! We watch them every week and have no idea how we'll line up (4-3-3? 4-4-2? etc) so what's Mancini saying to his players?!

I'm really excited, I love watching the young lads.

I suppose he is playing it safe by resting a few just in case we struggle in the PL.

Come on lads!!!

I cant get over the team selection. Petrov and an untried Bradley in midfield. They could walk all over us.

This is our biggest game of the season and we seem to be running out behind a white flag. Hope I'm wrong but this seems deranged.

Fuck it, all the pressure is on them. They haven't won a cup for about 300 years and their Champions League qualification is looking les likely as the weeks roll on.

Do us proud Villa.

So Bolton on Saturday as a bigger game than this one? Christ.

"Martin O'Neill sticks with the same players all the time, they're all knackered and all know that they're guaranteed a start, booooo!"

"Gerard has rotated his squad to keep them fresh and encourage competition for places, booooo!"

Rotation is fine.

Rest/ drop two or three if required.

Treating a game that could lead to an FA Cup quarter final berth as an inconvenience, just another fixture to be filled is taking the piss - as it was in Moscow.

Hope it's viewed as a masterstroke by 10pm, GH has made a few fruity picks this season and it's paid off. I wouldn't bet my house on it though.
