Luc Nilis

With Ronaldo's retirement I was watching a highlights video. For some of his PSV goals there was the familiar figure of Luc Nilis in the mix. So I moved onto a video of Nilis. Man alive he was good. At lot of goals, many brilliant, and a lot of assists. Even though he was getting on when he moved to Villa, the Chelsea goal showed he still had a bit left in the tank. What a loss.

Does anyone know why he was never snapped up by one of the big Italian or Spanish clubs?

Not sure why he wasn't snapped up by one of the bigger sides TBH, he was linked at various times but he was happy at PSV by all accounts.

Was quite a coup to sign him.

We've seen plenty of players have a good debut and then go on to flatter to deceive. But the cheek to score that type of goal versus Chelsea indicates he might have been different.

The ultimate what if really.

Ronaldo & Van Nistelrooy were his striking partners in PSV, I guess the limelight would be on the Brazilian & the Dutch rather than him, a Belgian.

254 goals in 438 games sure is something some strikers would die to have though.

He could have been a star for us too.

Great player, such a shame the way his career ended.
