By second "half" of the final are you referring to the second leg?

I reckon its someone who was sold during the gap between the cup final and a replay, Jim Leighton?

Who appeared in the first half of a cup final, was then sold and therefore did not appear in the second half?

Real person, real event, local connection.

Stan Lynn, 1961 League Cup.

Stan Lynn, 1961 League Cup.
He didn't join Small Heath until 20th October 61, and the 2nd leg of the Rotherham final was 5th September.

Stan Lynn, 1961 League Cup.

Stan didn't play in the second leg, but did play for Villa in a league match shortly afterwards, his final game for the club.

If it helps, it was the same buying club, Small Heath. The player had no Villa connection other than we once made an enquiry for him just before a derby game. Alongside his brother, he went on to deny Liverpool the treble.
