Does David Beckham every actually play football nowadays?

He pretty much semi retired in 2007, not that people didn't think he should have been in the football squad for some silly reason.

He gets to do his dive again. Still don't think he'll get a medal though.

You're dead good at this prediction lark aren't you?

Old news now but I really hope that this happens... "TWENTY SEVEN, SIR MOHAMED FARAH”
He sums up what Britain can and should be i.e. fucking amazing.

Don't tell him, his head is big enough at the moment anyway.

I've lost track, who you talking about?

Try field, maybe you can win at that.

28 golds! Unbelievable performance all round. I can remember Olympics in the past where we were thought to be doing well if we won four. I can remember Atlanta in 1996 where we only won one.

We've now won more golds at these Games than Germany, France and Italy combined. And more than we won at all the Games between 1972 and 1996 put together.

There have been many highlights these last two weeks, but for sheer emotional impact, the most memorable moments for me have been Mo Farah's two wins. My wife, daughter and I were all on our feet cheering, shouting and, yes, crying last night as he ran those last couple of laps, my wife was actually sobbing as he crossed the finish line. He joins a very small elite club of athletes who have won Olympic gold in both long distance events, and we're very lucky to have witnessed it.

Fantastic.

My good lady made a very good point last night. You really wouldnt like to sit next to Michael Johnson on the tube/bus etc

He must have won the gold medal for spreading his legs the farthest a human being is capable of doing.

Top performance from the BBC studio team though they came up with the goods when it mattered.

Remember that American fella years ago who smacked his head during his dive?

Greg Louganis, aye he's a coach for them now.  Apparently he was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS before those Olympics but didn't admit it until years later.

He knew he had HIV when the accident happened, he also never told the medics that treated the cut to his head, in a recent interview he said he was very worried as the medics never wore gloves.

Huge crowds for the marathon and London is looking spectacular. Having a surname beginning with K appears to be an advantage in this event, even more so being called Kiprotich or an anagram of it.

Interesting indeed.
Also interesting was a stat on the BBC the other night - no white sprinter has *ever* run 100m in less than 10 seconds.

PWS beat me to it. In the meantime I checked. Christophe Lemaitre ran 9.92 last year.
