Not my cup of tea at all that but anyone who can make a horse dance to the theme from The Great Escape is fine by me.  The control those riders exert over the horses using almost imperceptible movements is mind blowing.

Agreed.    Mom must have been nervous in the post performance interview, great bit of back-tracking:

Quote
Charlotte Dujardin's mother Jane on BBC One after watching her daughter win gold in the dressage: "All the pressure was really on her. I'm so proud - it's unbelievable. When my mother died I knew I had to use the money I inherited to buy Charlotte a horse. She could make a donkey do anything. Not that he's a donkey, but she has made him a grand prix horse. I knew she had all the talent, but didn't have the break until I could buy her the horse."

Yep - this could be another day like Saturday.   We have guaranteed at least silver in Taekwondo and sailing - let's make 'em gold!

Good effort by the fella in his Taekwondo semi-final. And there's been some spectacular crashes in the BMX today.

Just been having a peruse of the medal table (the one on the BBC site is good and gives a breakdown of all Countries' medals). The range of sports in which GB has won (or guarateed to win) is quite staggering. If Swimming was taken out of the Olympics, Team GB would be well ahead of the USA (16 golds in swimming!).
I know we have done well in cycling, but if you take that out, GB is still comfortably in third place, and would probably still improve on the Beijing performance.

I think I heard them mention earlier that this is the first games where we've won a medal in every kind of discipline.

If they didn't limit the cycling to one competitor per country per race type we could have won more medals of lower types as well.

They have just interviewed Rutherford and he either had a trial or was on the kids books at Villa as he admitted he could have been a Villa player but was too lazy to push for it.

Over the last two seasons he would have fitted right in!

He ran the second 200m with a broken leg!

Quote
American runner Manteo Mitchell has revealed he ran the last 200m of the Olympic men's 4x400m relay heats with a broken left leg.
Mitchell began the race for the United States, who went through to Friday's final as the second fastest team despite Mitchell's injury.
"As soon as I took the first step past the 200m mark, I felt it break." Manteo told the USA Track and Field  website.
"I didn't want to let the three guys or the team down, so I just ran on it."
Mitchell still managed to finish the opening lap in 46.1 seconds as the US team, also featuring Joshua Mance, Tony McQuay and Bryshon Nellum, went on to set a qualifying time of two minutes, 58.87 seconds.
"It hurt so bad," the 25-year-old added. "I'm pretty amazed that I still split [close to] 45 seconds on a broken leg."
USA Track and Field chief executive Max Siegel said: "Manteo has become an inspiration and a hero for his team-mates.
"Without his courage and determination to finish, Team USA would not be at the starting line in the final. The team has rallied around him and we are all looking forward the final days of competition."
The US men's team are the defending champions and have won every 4x400m Olympic title that they have contested
