The commentators are from the Daily Mail and don't like what the workshy bastards stand for.

Dutch women win a penalty shoot-out in the hockey. Some cuties in that match as well.

And in the GBR v Argentina match. Almost like watching St Trinians.

Bolt was so so good in the 200.  Eased off and let his momentum carry him for about 80m.  Blake was also impressive but his easing off was maybe a little more risky.  Christian Malcolm got a pretty respectible 3rd in his semi, don't think he'll have been quick enough to get to the final though, but will be close.

Just had a look and not quite the standard of the Dutch and NZ. Plus we're losing so back to the athletics for me.

She's still very young 9th in the olympic final is still a decent achievement and, as a 22year old, she will hopefully grow from the experience.  Similar situation with Holly Bleasdale, pressure plays a massive part in the technical events and some of our younger athletes just haven't been able to handle having the hopes of the home nation on them.

Like Adam Gemili and Lawrence Okoye this competition came too early and Rio is where we'll see just how good they are.

Think Blake is going to get closer to him in the final. he was in first semi and when he came into call room he got hold of the microphone we use to call the athletes in with. he started to wind Bolt up.

Bolt came in for second semi - a bit quiet - in today's Telegraph his manager complained that we had taken his skipping rope off him (as it is a training aid and not permitted). Did think we should have given him a full body search in retaliation.

Should be a good final tomorrow.

Just returned from Olympic Park. Four of us for morning athletics. But didn,t leave the park until 8.00pm ish. Absolutely fantastic day out. Forget the stories about security, queues etc. Just superbly organised. Left home at 7.45 (OK I know I am only 35 miles away, but this was at rush hour time) and in the Park before 9.00am).

And can I give credit to MCDonalds, the healthy eating sponsors. Busiest time of day, walked upto the Orbit area outlet (the smaller of the 2 McDonalds), girl with handheld device took order, walked up to till and paid, walked up to counter and and four complete meals were waiting for us in bags and on trays. Must have taken about 90seconds total. And the prices the same as in the High Street. Absolutely gobsmacked.

Late in the day now, but travelling tip that may even be useful for those driving down from Midlands. Ebbsfleet International Station. Close to Bluewater, and easily accessible off M25. On the HS1 line and the journey time by Javelin High Speed Train into Stratford International, one of the entry gates for the Olympic Park, is 11mins. Parking for the Olympics is £8.00 for the day, and can be pre-booked. As far as I could see non-prebooked was drive in with no problem. Train is discounted for Olympic ticket holders. Can be pre-booked on line, but no long queues for pay on day. £7.20 adult return, and £3.60 child return. (Peak adult return is normally about £30.00)

Jessica Ennis gold postbox in Sheffield vandalised

A Royal Mail employee applied a new layer of gold paint to the postbox

A postbox that was painted gold in Jessica Ennis's home city of Sheffield, to celebrate her Olympic triumph, has been vandalised.

The graffiti was scrawled on the postbox in Barkers Pool in the city centre.

A new layer of gold has been applied by a Royal Mail employee, a Sheffield City Council spokeswoman said.

Ennis received the honour for winning the gold medal in heptathlon at the London Games.

One person who saw the graffiti said: "It's disgusting. It's a shame. I have a lot of respect for Jessica Ennis and what she's done for Sheffield."

A Royal Mail spokesman said it was "extremely disappointed" about the vandalism.

"We have teams around the UK which look after and maintain our 115,000 post boxes and we have already repaired the damage to this box," he added.

Leader of Sheffield City Council, Julie Dore said: "We are all so proud of Jess and her fantastic success, which is not only a great achievement for her and her team but also is a huge achievement for the city.

"This is our moment to shine so what a shame it is that someone has chosen to tarnish this by vandalising a postbox painted gold in honour of our local hero.

"I hope they feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves."

The police released a statement saying that the "graffiti" was actually just that someone has scrawled "Go Jess" on the post box.

It wasn't some kind of gang-tag situation.

Just flicked onto the Spain v France basketball and seems something is amiss. Commentators seem unhappy with something, no idea what though.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19185268

Spain were taking dives so one of the French players gave them a reason to go down

NB - I think that it might be John Amaechi on the commentary
