Seeing Laura without her helmet, she could be a rightful heir to Queen Vic, but it looks like she is a smoker (or can't brush her teeth properly.)

I cant see that she would smoke due to the effect it would have on her breathing/lung capacity...........

I would have thought so as well, it might have been the light but it looked like she had yellowing teeth on one side of the mouth only.

Cigarettes are good for your health actually, if she has asthma or hay fever it may be just the thing to give her the edge at such a high level of competition.

Well I feel sorry for Holly Bleasdale, but she clearly needs a sports psychologist. She looked completely mentally wrong throughout her pole vault efforts.

I agree it all seemed a bit much for her and her coach wasnt helping IMO by telling her when to jump

Pretty much all the coaches were doing that, mainly because in the qualifying rounds the jumpers had issues planting the pole with the variable wind at the take-off point.

I admit though that it looked like it was very distracting, and she never looked like she believed.

I suppose tonight people in the stadium can rightly say they were there when Usain Bolt got his gold medal.

Anyone know why they're not using lane 1 in the single lap races?

Because it's not too tight on the non sprint events.

Kirani James is a sporting chap, wins the gold and then goes to shake hands with all the other competitors.

Incidentally, what happened to the lad who was selected ahead of the world no. 1 for the GB taekwondo team?
