We have been stuck on 16 Golds for over 24 hours.

Moynihan Out ! Hunt Out ! Coe Out! Boris Out !

GOLD MEDAL - Great Britain (show jumping team gold)
An impeccable final round from Peter Charles on Vindicate ensures gold for Great Britain.

Phew - no need to panic!

I can't believe Nick Skelton is still riding. Oh those boring Saturdays waiting for Starskey and Hutch while my Mom and Dad watched Paul Shockamola aboard Towerlands Anglezark in the puisance. Is David Broome still alive? What about Harvey Smith? I'd love to see him ride past Lord Coe and give the V's.

Terrible Gold count for the Aussies ( just 2 to date, arf arf).
But the Russians must be massively disappointed too. They finished with 23 golds in Beijing, but are presently on 5.
Thats why we are going to finish 3rd in the table.

Most of the traditional gold for Russia events are being won by the Chinese. And the yanks slaughtered the swimming that the Aussies normally get a lot of their golds in.

Oh My god, he got killed by Kenny.

Edit, he lead the sprint for the whole lap which is very hard to do.

That is exhilarating to watch. Bring back Salford Park velodrome, rebuild Aston Lower Grounds stadium. Lets have a Villa cycling team*

*Written whilst in the midst of olympic excitement. I'll have forgotten about it once the football season starts.

Taken at a Trott.

How she got through on a couple of them without coming a cropper I will never know.

Only one event we haven't took a medal in and that was because of a pounced upon rule.

Seeing Laura without her helmet, she could be a rightful heir to Queen Vic, but it looks like she is a smoker (or can't brush her teeth properly.)

I cant see that she would smoke due to the effect it would have on her breathing/lung capacity...........

I would have thought so as well, it might have been the light but it looked like she had yellowing teeth on one side of the mouth only.

Salford Stadium was situated in Salford Park and comprised of a redgra running track surrounded by a 403m tarmac cycle velodrome with banked ends hence why the running track was the odd size of 397y (approximately 363m). The running track existed before the cycle one and on 11th July 1951 the combined cycle and running track was opened as Salford Stadium as a contribution to the Festival of Britain. The running track had 6 lanes but was later reduced to 5. There used to be uncovered terracing around most of the track, uncovered benches with seating for about 100, floodlights down the back straight and some buildings adjacent to the track. Lozells Harriers were the last athletics club to be based here. They merged with Small Heath who subsequently merged with Solihull. Both tracks were in fairly good condition up until they and all the stadium buildings were demolished in April 2000 to make way for 5-a-side football pitches but the running track had not been used seriously for some time. The infield was a well maintained grass pitch although prior to the demise of the tracks did not seem to be used for anything.

I remember going along to what I think was called the Birmingham Games during the early  sixties before Spaghetti Junction got built.Shame Manchester has one over us with their velodrome...have found the cycling absolutely fascinating, wonder if the Villa cycle team has a good ring to it
