Spinning around in a cage and throwing a 2kg lenticular disc as far as you can, is not a worthwhile sport.

They couldn't even win that event. The Welsh would pick up all the golds.

A Canadian fella in the show jumping (I think) is taking part in his 10th Olympic games. That's quite impressive.

I've got caught up in all this madness but I draw the line with the equestrian shite. Getting medals when some poor fucking beast has done all the graft.

Fuck off.

Bit harsh on the Algerian who has been thrown out.

Not really, if he'd taken it easy and finished with a poor time they'd have been able to argue it off as a slight pull that he didn't want to aggrivate, etc.  by jogging for a little way then walking back he's made it a bit too obvious.  Much like the badminton, throwing an event is ok so long as you're not obviously doing it.

True but it's still harsh when he should have been withdrawn by the Algerians. He obviously wanted to concentrate on the 1500m final he was in. Which to me is fair enough. Maybe he could have withdrawn before the race saying he had a niggle, but I think kicking him out is a bit OTT.

It is, and he'd probably have got away with it most years but when they've kicked 4 teams from the badminton for trying to throw matches they'd have been open for complaints if they'd let him carry on.  It was just very naive to do things as he did.  Run 50yards then tense up and sit down pretending you've got cramp and you're fine, make it clear from the off that you're not even going to try to run and you're kicked out.

From my hotel overlooking the athletes' village, there are a few dark clouds but hopefully they will blow by.

Just about to walkover for my evening shift. Doubt tonight will be as exciting as last night. Riding shotgun for Mr Bolt will take some beating.
