Can we not just continue with the Olympics and sack the football season? Took my kids to the Brazil v Honduras match yesterday and my son was doubly excited in that we were going to an Olympic event and seeing Brazil, didn't tell them we were going until Saturday morning, fair to say they were excited! Fantastic atmosphere in and around the ground with plenty of Brazilans at the game.

I even watched some sailing today and enjoyed it. I had a lump lump later in my throat when Murray got his Gold.  It's probably the biggest tournament he will ever win but I hope I'm wrong

Off the top of me head......

One of the Brownlee brothers (probably Alistair beating Johnathon in a 1-2) in the triathlon,
dressage team event,
jumping team event,
Charlotte Dujardin for the individual dressage,
Beth Tweddle in the uneven bars,
Robbie Grabarz a chance in an open high jump,
Perri Shakes Drayton has a real medal chance for the 400 hurdles,
good chances in both the mens and womens 470 class in the sailing,
Laura Trott in the omnium,
Sir Chris Hoy should win the Keirin,
Nick Skelton should have a reasonable chance in the individual jumping.

As you had a question mark over the boxing - One of the female boxers(Savannah Marshall) stands a really good chance of gold and, from everything I've read, we should be looking at 4-5 medals minimum in the boxing, we're guaranteed a bronze already after campbell got to the semi (for those that don't know they don't have a 3rd place fight, so both losing semi-finalists get a bronze).

We also have Brabants in the canoe sprint who should be in the mix for a medal.

Philips Idowu (if fit) should be looking at a medal.

Mens and womens hockey have both looked good so far (although the women somehow lost against china, but a win today makes that meaningless and puts them in the semi).

Shanaze Reade in the womens BMX stands a chance.  She was overwhelming favourite in Beijing and missed out, she's now only considered to be in with a medal shout but it's one of those sports where anyone of the top 5-6 could win.

In the mens we have a guy who would have been a medal shout but he broke his collarbone in May.  He's been picked and is supposedly fit but whether he's in the right place in terms of training will be debateable.

Can't think of anyone else who's been touted as having a major chance.

Why are Australia doing so poorly in this one?  The USA have dominated the pool granted but even so 1 gold so far for the Aussies is very poor.  Germany too have not been their usual selves.  And where and how have Kazakhstan suddenly appeared on the sporting radar?
