Of course you can rely on the footballers to f*ck up the night...

And a great way to bring up your 5000th post

You can always rely on the footballers to put a dampner on things. The ones who earn the most seem to fail the most.

As I said not really fussed about the football, the athletics, cycling and rowing matter much more as they're the pinnacle of the sport.

So 6 gold medals in a day and just shy of seven with the men's doubles and their seat problems. And aren't we on for another possible three tomorrow with Cycling and Ainslee in the Sailing?

Andy Murray is going for 2 Golds and is guaranteed at least 2 silvers

That's exactly what I thought. There's not enough vitriol on this thread, useless flappy twat!

What a amazing night tonight. Absolutely brilliant on the track, I bet the atmosphere is incredible. Well done Great Britain.

Losing at Olympic football is like us not getting a medal in the handball, badminton or table tennis....so what?

Exactly, I was hoping we would do well, but we will never play in it again as we will never qualify (need to be U21 champions / runners up, never mind the whole GB thing.)

God knows what the welsh twat in the studio was on about. At worse he was half a foot off the line, not like when they are almost on the 6 yard box as keepers used to be before that rule. And if Sturridge had just hit it without the stopping, the kepper wouldn't have been making that move anyway.

The US Basketball team earn far more than the GB footballers and they seem to be doing OK.

BTW, I suspect that the highest paid member of Team GB in any sport is Luol Deng

Oh FFS Savage. I'm surprised you never put yourself forward to play you tart. Richards, Giggs and Bellamy all played well. So which one wouldn't you have picked in place of the semi retired Beckham.

What do the US basketball team have to do with English and British footballers failing?

I never put him down for winning as he always bottles the final.  ;)

(actually I forgot he was on tomorrow)
