Another Gold! In the womens team pursuit. They nearly lapped the Americans. Apparently last 6 races they've broken the WR each time. Well done girls.

Current medal haul 11 Gold, 7 Silver and 8 Bronze. Only seems a few days ago folks were moaning we weren't winning any.

In the sports of rowing and even more so cycling, we are now the undisputed world dominating all conquering force. Breaking world records on a regular basis and virtually redefining these events.

This has not happened by accident, or because we have just had a few high quality talents appear together. It has been very carefully planned over many years to get to a position where they could execute such dominance.

If its possible  for us to so successfully execute such a plan for world dominance at pedalling bicycles and using oars in boats, why cant we put into place such a plan to achieve world dominance for kicking footballs?

I guess because the only vested interest that British Cycling and Rowing have is winning Olympic golds. The Football Association had an opportunity when they led us to believe that the creation of the Premiership was first and foremost for the benefit of the national team. Of course the clubs had a different idea and I don't know how that will ever be reversed.

We are by and large no better or worse at international level post or pre Premiership. The problem is more seated.

This was the position in 2010, I doubt it is that different now:-

There are 2.25 million players in England and only one Uefa-qualified coach for every 812 people playing the game. Spain  have 408,134 players, giving a ratio of 1:17. In Italy, the ratio is 1:48, in France it is 1:96, Germany 1:150 and even Greece, the Euro 2004 winners, have only 180,000 registered players for their 1,100 coaches, a ratio of 1:135.

Surely with that magnitude of defeat Americans are going to hint at drugs helping their rivals!

Dai Greene is a lucky boy and just makes it through to the final.
Big big improvement required but he will be in a bad lane.

Wow what a choice of sports at the moment. Tennis with Mr Williams vs Ms Grunter, man in a boat (and not the good kind) race or trampoline. I've settled on the trampoline.

So you are sitting in front of a PC that allows access to watch virtually any live sport moaning about your limited choice on the TV.

Yes I was. Is that okay with you? Or maybe I need to explain that I was using my  PC for other things so couldn't stream anything on it. Happy now or is there something else you want to try and pick up on?

Maybe you were just getting withdrawal because we hadnt seen Team GB get a medal or break a world record for a couple of hours.
