If this is true, the GB sprint cycling team should be stripped of their medal

I would agree with that. But can I say what a twat to actually even admit it. At least when the Chinese and others did stupid in Badmington, they tried to cover it by saying they were resting for the knockouts so weren't trying there hardest.

Edit: I have just seen that clip (missed the heats) and it was so blatent. Hoy was already putting his hand up before he had even hit the floor.

Rumours there could be an inquiry. The excuse is that Hindes does not speak good English and that he did not express himself well. This one could run for a bit.

Just because Hindes is German, that's no excuse.

Wiggins is Belgian and he speaks perfect English

I am sorry but that is a stupid statement. Wiggins has been brought up in an English speaking family, and lived in England since he was about 4.

Total Nonsense!

Hindes has only admitted it because it is quite a common thing to happen in sprint cycling, and had it happened to any of the other nations competing they would have done the same. It was like he was peddling with no chain. If it was such a problem, then that arsey commisaire would have relegated them there and then anyway.

Also the team they were competing against in that heat obviously were happy to restart or they would have protested.

It was not meant as a serious statement.

Given that it was such a bizarre comment, I didn't think that it required a "Winky" or "Grin" emoticon

The fact that he's from Chorley would be more of a concern when it comes to lack of understanding in any case!

Bloody hell Ennis would have won the hurdles gold in Beijing with that time!
