That was funny, watching the swimming. They mentioned a semi finalist who started competitive swimming two years ago with a scholarship. The commentator said 'this is really impressive as she was a non-swimmer two years ago' and the other commentator said, 'I take it you mean competitively, rather than would have drowned.'

The swimming's been good so far.  A 15 year old Lithuanian girl is taking the piss out of everyone else by just thrashing champions, breaking records, etc.  It's crazy.

I do get the feeling the Brits have gone in to this a bit blaze though.  Adlington almost didn't qualify for the final and the mens 4x100m freestyle swimmers got knocked out having "rested" their fastest swimmer.

Why is it Team GB and not Team UK?

Hasn't it always been GB in the olympics?

better from adlington and another medal for us.  I think the heat wasn't that she was blaze, more that she had no one who stood a chance of qualifying with her, so she had no one to compare to in terms of speeds.

it's no shock that the majority of the finalists were in 2 heats.

Anything to piss off Colin Murray

However, I also think that it should be "Team UK"

The full title is The Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team. Has been for a long time and never changed since 19th century.

Should be Team UK, then.

I'm cheering on the Chinese weightlifter, off the sofa at the climax of the Womens road race, howling like a loon for the swimming and enjoying the men's beach volleyball as much as the women's (although the fact that the latter play in their pants was the lead in).

I love the Olympics!

Yes, but as all our labels on the sports shirts over the time are all GBR, it fits those better.

Hilarious seeing the French reel in the USA in the relay and beat them.
