The whole thing is amazing. The cauldron and now the fireworks just cap it off.

A fantastic ceremony, completely British as it should be.

Didn't the Queen look good after throwing herself out of that helicopter !!
Not a hair out of place. Bloody marvelous.

I wonder how many people on the roadside think that the bloke in yellow in the breakaway is Wiggo ?

Despite most of us on here and People generally agreeing that last night was great advert for GB apparently it was all a lefties dominated feeble excuse of an event only catering to a minority taste according to Aidan Burley Tory MP for Stafford.

Annoying about Cav failing, he'll be gutted.

I wouldn't say that Cav failed.

The rest of the riders just left Wiggo & co to do all the work early on. Then, when the major attack came, they didn't have the legs to pull the breakaway back.

Is the women's race tomorrow over the same course ?

I mean in the sense that his aim was to get gold and he failed to do that. Not sure on women's race, but I think so.

I thought the coverage was very poor by TDF standards. The info available to the commentators and us was risable.

One of the commentators - Hugh Porter I think it said his name was - was terrible.  It seemed that every time he identified a rider, or made a comment on how things might pan out, it was immediately shown to be wrong.  He makes Motson sound like Arlott.
