Agreed Ozzjim, hes on loan and can only be seen as a positive to take the heat off Delph, as he is a suspension waiting to happen.
As for Hutton, about a similar level to Young only a few years younger. Whats not to like?

He's a fair bit quicker and a bit more of a threat in the final third. But not quite as dominant defensively.

He could do well here -if we sees this as an opportunity to nail a first team place at one of the bigger clubs in the country (despite all the recent shite we're still that). If he comes here just to poodle, go through the motions and pick up his pay check his ability won't matter. Ditto Jenas.

Hard to know if the pair of them are miffed at being forced out at Tottingham or are glad for the chance to start over.

Nice to see Tottingham ship out a load of players to make well for Cahill -and not get him in the end either.

If Walker was the opposite of Young, Hutton is an inbetweener of the two. Jenas is very average, but so are we and it is experience we need. Very glad that Range Rover Arry looked so fucked off at the end.

Villa confirm agreement for Hutton and Jenas
Double deal agreed.

The club can confirm that agreement has been reached with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of Alan Hutton and the season-long loan of Jermaine Jenas.

Scotland international Hutton passed a medical and agreed terms this evening, sealing a deal to 2015.

England international Jenas also passed a medical this evening.

Hutton said: "As soon as I knew Villa were interested, it was the only place I wanted to go.

"This is a massive club with great players. The likes of Darren Bent have told me so much about it.

"It's a great football club with great fans and I'm really looking forward to working with Alex McLeish again.

"He's such a commanding figure and he's had a great influence on my career at Rangers and in the Scotland team in the past. I'm really looking forward to working with him again.

"I want to help the club progress and for us to be the best team we can be. I know I'll have to work hard to hold down a place and I'm very much looking forward to this challenge."

Jenas added: "I'm delighted.

"Villa is a big club and I'm up for the cause. I want to get my head down and fit into the squad as quickly as I can.

"It's a new chapter in my career and it would be great to achieve something at the club. I'm really looking forward to getting going."

Villa manager Alex McLeish said: "Alan is a player whom I know well. He is an athletic full back in his mid-20s - a very good age - and he has a lot of experience playing at a high level, both internationally with Scotland and with Glasgow Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur which are big clubs.

"So he fits the bill in terms of having the right temperament to be an important and influential player for Villa.

"Jermaine is a dynamic midfield player and I feel he will add to the quality of the squad as well. He also has played at a very high level and I'm sure he will be relishing this opportunity."

And we all lived happily ever after ..........

I genuinely think Jenas will shine. I think given the opportunity to be a semi-big fish in a realistically smallish pond (at the moment) he will do very well. I'm still a proud supporter through and through, and honestly couldn't be happier with today's signing. The transfer market is always a stressful and difficult time for both the supporters and board. Searching for the right players that fit into the financial realm of the club is a difficult process.

I can also see Hutton doing well. The best thing for him was that Jenas came on too. Hopefully, they'll fit-in in our dressing room. We'll certainly be Top 10 come Christmas.

I don't understand the negativity. We're one of the most respected clubs in the Prem, there's no arguing that. We concern ourselves with other clubs far too much, we'll be fine.

vtid.

Okie how many people think we are the 'unamed club' that made 9.5 million bid for  jelavic @ rangers ... turned down
Nobody thinks that Brice.

At what point over the last couple of weeks have the club given you the indication we're about to bid nearly £10m for another striker?

two games without scoring a goal ???
and not putting hereford away till late on ??
thats the only indictation

You're missing something important, Brice. Those are an indication of a need. What about the feasibility of us spending that much?

A little like the fact that, right now, what I really need is Megan Fox tickling my testicles and feeding me beer and crisps, but the likelihood of that happening is even less than that of us spending 10m on a player today.

Great post.

We are taking Spurs cast offs and they aspire to finish 5-7th. Do the math.

Given the current fiscal situation i feel that AM has worked wisely and bought in some decent if not spectacular players

Given - better than Freidel

N'Zogbia - not shined yet but i am sure he will become more reliable than Downing

Hutton - At the very least an exact swap for Young - albeit younger

Jenas - MON was always interested  in him and as much as i would have loved makoun to have made it the signs were that he was very unhappy at VP for whatever reason. Jenas might just prove to be a lot better than we give him credit for

Either way its over now so we can assume the status quo and let the SSN team go back to self abusing themselves over Man U / 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' and Man city

I still think paying £6 million for Makoun in January and then loaning him out is a weird one .  Thats £6 million tied up in a player that we cant get back .
