This time four years ago the stock phrase to indicate a silver lining to some shite purchase being completed round about now would have been 'but he's a typical MON type signing. Young, point to prove etc'.

Can we think of anything similar for Jenas or any other low-key arrival?

Onhua looks like he is going on loan to Bolton. We are short on numbers and there is a player who is versatile yet we're nowhere to be seen? 12 players out pre season and 2 in so far, it's little wonder only 30k turned up Saturday. That will probably dwindle as well and the board have nobody to blame but themselves. I know people will say that we don't know what is going on at the club well maybe they should come out and say?

Those days when Lerner took over seem so long ago, I dread to think what the real 5 year plan was?

1644: And where is Jermaine Jenas going to end up? We know Aston Villa are interested, but they are not the only ones... BBC Radio Stoke understand that Jenas is currently having talks with Stoke City at the club's Clayton Wood training ground.

I think they have!  Sam Matterface from Talsk sport just tweeted it.  Also, Jenas is at Stoke for talks, along with Jerome and Crouch heading there too!  WTF?!?!
