Joe Cole, this is of the cuff desperate journalism IMO, why would we go for Joe Cole, as mentioned we already have the likes of Ireland, just got rid of Makoun, Zog, Albrighten, so there we are cutting our wage bill and we bring in another player who by nature won't put a pair of football boots on unless he's being paid a fortune, another one in Ireland who has to be some kind of mythical spiritual presence in the team because he don't play for us, and somebody told me the other day he's being paid up around 65K to 70K a week.

Why would we want Joe Cole, no merit in this whatsoever and what happened to the midfielder from Celtic.

The club have confirmed we're in talks with Cole. The guy from Celtic? Now THAT was the lazy journalism.

It just gets better...............

I think if Cole can stay fit he would give us that creative edge back and his experience would be valuable.
The experience of doing nothing for years.

He's still hiding behind the tuck shop. This game of Ackey 123 has got out of control.

I will ask you again, so who is good enough for villa in the current situation we are in?  Not who isn't good enough for villa.

Present  situation is transient. We will rise this year again and we must plan for that  not mediocrity.

Jenas is shit.

Not as shit as Joe Cole.

I disagree. Cole is a busted flush but was once good.

Jenas has always been a poor player.

Robert Pires used to be good once, too.

Joe Cole's legs go all wobbly north of Watford Gap. Maybe there are plans to force the staff at Bodymoor Heath to adopt cockney accents & serve jellied eels.

Two arrivals today at #AVFC. Alan Hutton and J Jenas from #thfc. Moves for Hargreaves and Steven Davis failed.

Normally I'd be complaining that we'd be after Jenas. But right now, I'd take just about anybody. We need bodies.
Thats all he will be a body.No thank you.

So who would you like?
Messi.

LOL we would all like Messi in our side but lets be realistic.  Every name that seems to be linked with Villa, there seems to be an opinion of "we dont need him" or "he isn't good enough" etc etc s o who is good enough for villa in the current situation we are in?
Jenas would be a disaster.Phil Neville would do a better job than him.And I never thought I would say that.

I will ask you again, so who is good enough for villa in the current situation we are in?  Not who isn't good enough for villa.
This is what I dont get.It looks like we are buying for the sake of buying. If the players coming in are the same quality or worse whats the point.Squad fillers at best.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should sign Cole - I don't think we need him, and I think he's largely finished - I'm saying that of two desperarely uninspiring players, Jenas doesn't even have the benefit of having once been very good.

I've also never been that excited by Jenas and I was surprised when I read an interesting article the other day that analysed the Spurs side last season. It said that Jenas was their most effective player in terms of goals scored and conceded when he was on the pitch last season, with Palacios being the least effective. Tottenham goal superiority was double when the former played, but much inferior when the latter was on the pitch. Interestingly as well, the team played no better or worse when Modric was on the pitch.

one minuet people are saying are squad is wafer thin and we need to bring players in,
and the next minuet anyone we are linked with or are talking to is Shit or we dont need

the bigger problem for me is that i dont think AM is going to risk the younger players we have, thats why we are going out looking to bring in experience, albeit dodgy experience,
i remember a nose saying he wouldnt play the kids or give them a chance, i hope he was wrong

i just wish we could put our faith in Bannan, Clarke, Albrighton, Herd etc rather than the folk that AM is allegedly interested in

He must have been alright when he won PFA Young Player Of The Year.

We're like a bird that used to be fit, put on a load of weight, slimmed right down, now in great shape and decides to buy a new wardrobe at Oxfam.
