surprised hargreaves has seemingly put money ahead of his career , not a clue as to who we can bring into midfield as our so called targets go elsewhere but i really hope we are close to pulling off a couple of loan deals which will excite .

Yes we have ran up a lot of debts and wasted a lot of cash on wages and players who dont play but randy is as much to blame for that as anyone- the cost cutting and weakening of the squad is not the way to win back fans and the club is in need of a lift -this is the time to make a quality signing to inspire us and a lot will be revealed about where we are heading by the ambition showed in the next 30 hours.

If I was signing a pay per play deal I'd go to Villa, not Man City. However, as he is there having a medical now it's looking like man city it is. Maybe they are the only team to offer him a salary whether he plays or not?

Having banked around £2 million from Luke Young’s switch to QPR, Villa are preparing a £3 million swoop for the defender McLeish managed for Rangers and Scotland.

Yesterday’s completion of Jean Makoun’s season-long loan to Olympiakos has also freed up funds for the Villa boss to target a more dynamic midfield playmaker.

Chelsea star Yossi Benayoun was offered to Villa, but the club’s attempts to reduce the wage bill have ruled them out of the running.

Makoun has been allowed to join Champions League club Olympiakos for a year just seven months after Gerard Houllier signed him from Lyon for £6 million.

McLeish was unable to guarantee the 28-year-old regular football and would welcome another player to help Charles N’Zogbia add a creative spark to the team.

Villa are confident of making progress with a deal for Hutton despite McLeish being impressed by how well academy youngster Chris Herd deputised against Wolves.

Really suprised with Hargreaves after reading an article yesterday. With him saying he offered to play for Man utd for nothing and it was more about "playing" obviously not quite the truth. Probably only De Silva is guaranteed a place in there midfield. Money rears its enevitable ugly head once again .......
