Can't wait for this window to end - be lucky if we get Hutton and the kid in, and frankly glosses over the issue we have in terms of midfield and general cover.

17 players gone (only 2 on loan) 2 in, with only Hutton on the radar with any prem experience and 36 hours or so left - suicidal management of the club. We have a very good start to the season in terms of who we play and we already look to be lacking any creativity or bite - think this could get very messy when we start to play more of the quality teams in the division.

If this is backing the manager as per the Generals well documented piece of PR fluff - then wouldn't want to be AM when we start the austerity drive due to wages: revenue disparity!!

aye, they've backed him to the tune of about -15m in the transfer market and about -400k a week in wages! It seems we're doing the sort of cuts a club make when they get relegated but before its happenned. Finally some long term planning from Randy.....

Don't worry.  If we're in the mire come January, we'll make a couple of panic signings - just like last January - and, once again, anyone who has had the temerity to question Randy's stewardship will be ridiculed...

Hutton and the young Irish lad would see us sorted at full-back; Hutton first choice RB with Herd and Lichaj back-up, Warnock first choice LB with Stevens and Baker back-up.

But priority has surely got to be a central midfielder..... I'm assuming we've got one in the bag if we're able to sell Hogg and Makoun (season-long loan with Olympiakos having the option to buy).

Apparently we are after Rhys Williams from Boro, whoever he is.

And the January players will be brought in with the projected fees to be raised from the sale of the one who shall not be named in the summer...

Great.

Hawkeye - Ok, I see you're trying to be clever here, unsuccessfully mind.

If you're thinking of selling your car, would you flog one of the wheels beforehand to make some money?

Once you answered that question, you might see what I was getting at.
I have not heard the rumours about Randys car sale, which i guess is a bit different to selling a business, there are 4 wheels on a car?

There are 4 wheels on a car, I can see you've played 'how many wheels are on a car' before. Devaluing the club by selling it's best assets, is not the greatest way to lure potential buyers.

To be honest at the moment, we resemble a poorly run circus.

As it appears to be cost cutting i think it smells of hargreaves for the midfield role signing. He would be a 'cheap' but quality option. I wonder if we ll sign anyone else though? As dont seem to be spending this window.

I think it will crazy if we sign Owen Hargreaves, even on a pay as you play basis. United struggled to get him to play in the last three seasons, five or six times he has played. How are we going to be any different. He lad might train on Youtube, but playing a full match is obviously a different animal.
Why do we need that!  When we need the guy to step in he'll be on the treatment table. What good is that?
If our chairman wants to back up our manager we should be looking paying the money to get Dempsey in if Fulham want to sell. Hmmm, wouldn't hold my breath on that one though.

Randy seems to be dodging the flak quite well , now im beginning to see why browns fans dont think much of his job there, if doug was at the helm now and doing this there would be uproar but randy still seems to have many fans on his side.

Clearly the generals words about backing mcleish were well wide of the mark and it wouldnt really surprise me if randy was looking for a way out-the financial crash of recent years has probably seriously depleted him and if he feels the dream is out of reach then fair enough, at least he gave it his best shot.

If the new midfielder - if he signs - isn't of the quality to go straight into the side and fit that midfield general role (hopefully pushing Petrov out of the starting X1), then what's the point of letting Makoun go? We don't need another midfielder to sit on the bench, and Makoun was more than adequate cover, he was quality cover.

Top midfielder and Hargreaves as an extra option - fine. But Hargreaves won't be able to fulfil that midfield general role.

This summer's getting a nasty little sting in the tail.

Regards hargreaves someone posted article how has recovered and will play 40 games this season. Hes had special surgery , and like woodgate, will be back competeting again.

Yes dempsey would be very good move but i think he wants to move abroad and play european competition.

Lukaku is apparently in talks with stoke for loan move. Why dont we get involved for him?

Not posted on here for a while, but here's my take:-

Randy has seen a lot of money wasted/under utilised and wants that addressed, which we all pretty much know and understand to an extent.  The club, and hopefully AM himself, have a lot of faith in the emerging youth players, so that balances the departures to a degree.  As evidenced by Bent, Given & N'Zogbia, we're still in the market for top players, provided they are good enough and it makes financial sense, we'll pay the money.  Players like Young make sense to go rather than leave for nothing in 12-months time.  We all accepted this with Ash.  Makoun doesn't seem to fit into how AM wants to shape the side, so again trying to avoid the type scenario we have seen lately, decison was taken to save money on him by loaning him out.

I guess what I'm saying is that in isolation none of these deals seem all that bad, but looked at together, one after the other with nobody coming the other way, we get the feelings we've seen expressed here.

So, rightly or wrongly, I think Randy HAS to sanction a deal or two before the window closes for PR reasons if nothing else.

Personally, I think we'll get Hutton and one more, which will be a decent loan or freebie.
