Bentner is woeful. I know we are short on numbers but we're not that desperate .

I really like Bendtner, he'd be an good upgade on Heskey and i reckon he'd work well alongside Bent. Can't see it happening though.

Hope that one is bollocks as Gabby switched for Bentner and a reduction in the debt to Lerner would not improve the team. Regardless of how much Arsenal offer for Gabby I would rather the deal didn't happen as the manager is highly unlikely to get much of the fee to spend. Ditto Bent.

As for the more firm links:

Hargreaves - could be a great move on a pay as you play with no fee. Tidy player if he can regain fitness. Big if that though, so not one to pin our season on. Would have been all for this signing if we did not have so many 'ifs' already in the squad - if Ireland regains form etc etc. To many ifs at the moment.

Hutton - not particularly impressed. Hasn't pulled up any trees at Spurs, and rumours of a dodgy off the pitch lifestyle. No thanks.

Benayoun - Good player, sort of player we should sign to replace ireland (if we can offload him). However what we actually need is a defensive midfielder, so I hope Benayoun coming in doesn't mean that isn't addressed.

Hargreaves was the ideal signing, providing none of the other three cm's left. Now we need two. As Hargreaves can't be relied on, leaving us one senior CM.

As it stands Ciaran Clark is our first in line to come in in central midfield, centre back and left back. He's a promising player, but it's worrying.

Hutton, Hargreaves and another midfield player would be ideal.

If arsenal want gabby and offer £8m plus bentner i would snatch their hand off.

All well and good if Eck got the 8m to spend, but if it just went off the debt then it would be a poor trade.

agree with you clampy, not sure how he would do alongside bent but bendtner is a decent striker.

He struggled to score in a team that produced chances by the hatful the last few seasons. How well would he do in ours?

While Benayoun and Onuoha would be great. We'd still have a slightly worrying issue of only having two central midfield players.

yesterday the rumour was arsenal were linked to bent for around £25m, can see that as far more likely than offering £16m for gabby , newcastle were linked with him in january with a fee widely quoted by their forums at about £5m- no way would gabby be worth £16M plus a player , and if arsene bid £6m for cahill id expect him to offer nearer £4m for gabby-although it seems bendtner is in advanced talks with someone.

I'm pretty sure I read most of the posts saturday and I thought the Bent to Arsenal rumours were purely hypothetical along the lines of "If Wenger wanted Bent and offered 25m then we would definitely sell".  ...and then it spiralled downwards from there.

I'd have money on Bent & Gabby going nowhere
