In the last few days we've lost/losing Makoun, Young and Beye all of which are on say £45k per week, plus Weimann and Hogg on say £10k. That's approximately £140-160k per week. That could get us one proper Milner-esque quality player and one or two Hutton-esque players.

I doubt we'll be losing Beye until the day his contract expires. I also doubt that Weimann and Hogg are on 10k a  week, and in any case we'll probably be paying a fair chunk of their wages. I've also been told unconfirmed that Makoun's on a more 'realistic' wage.

Bet makoun is gutted, swapping our bench for champions league. I personally think we have made a fuck up.

Have to say its only a F>U if we don't get a replacement that merits more than 8 appearances for the club (something like that) I just don't think a team like Villa can afford bench warmers, every player must contest to play every game and where the manager see's fit play every game.

Admittedly that's only looking at the recent history but McLeish appears to be doing his bit by reducing the squad now we need Randy to back him like he has the other mangers.

Sorry I've missed something.  Where's Beye going?

That will be a free!  But at least off the wage bill.

Rumours a few pages back that Beye might be going to Hull.

Logically it's unlikely to happen but if they gave him a two year deal and first team football (not sure whether that is an attraction to Beye...) plus the pay off from Villa then arguably the aggregate amount of cash he would earn would be greater than just seeing out his contract.

Fans on the Hull board seem to think so, the big question there is "is Beye worth the wage" with the response "No way"

I like Makoun, but we do have 2 other players who can do the same job, Bannan and Delph. If we use the money or space in the squad to buy a better version of NRC it would make sense. As pointed out, we also need a couple of good defenders, prefferably versatile ones that can play anywhere across the back 4, and then hopefully we will somehow forge a solid quartet for the season. 1 more decent attacking player would be a bonus, as i doubt Ireland will come good, Heskey is past it and Albrighton and Delfouneso are still developing.

Arsenal have tabled a bid for Gabriel Agbonlahor to the tune of 16ML + a player, load of b*ll*ks, has to be, but you heard it here first if true.

Hogg's moved on a permanent deal apparently - so I wouldn't have thought we were paying any of his wages anymore.

Gutted about JIIM moving on, as I could see him replacing Petrov... but AM must have seen something else he didn't like and he moved him on, I hope AM proves me wrong but I have a bad feeling this one will come back and haunt us.

I can't see it as Gabby loves the Villa but we have seen some strange things in the last few months so I guess anything can happen.

Beye is a £2m liability to us.  Herd and Lichej between them will look after the right back spot.  A free will give Hull the room to pay him a signing o. Fee to compensate him for loss of PL wage.

Has Parker actually signed for Spurs?

Hasn't Beye been linked with Hull several times in the past???  Sounds like an old story re-surfacing sadly.
