With the squad looking thinner by the day ,

Thin? The squad looks positively anorexic!

In: Given, N'Zogbia

Out: A Young, L Young, Downing, Makoun (Loan), Carew, Pires, Reo-Coker, Hogg, Osbourne, Salifou, Weimann (Loan) and possibly Beye

Have I missed anyone? If I have I bet they were 'out' and not 'in'; this is ridiculous!

Please buy some (decent) players and preferably in the next 72 hours!

53 hours to go!

Friedel? Of course! How did I miss that one?

Hugely disappointed that Makoun has gone.  Think he could have been a great player for us given the chance to get up to pace.  More than happy to give Mcleish the benefit of the doubt but I'm starting to miss Houlier.

Hargreaves? - Nah!
Gordon? - No ta (why do we need to spend previous resources on a keeper? - we'll take a risk with Guzan, Marshall and Siegrist).
Attacking midfielder? - we have Ireland and Bannan; oh, and Heskey!
What we need: FB and defensive / other experienced midfielder (cover for Petrov / Delph).

I'm not remotely concerned that he's gone, as we have four midfielders in Petrov, Delph, Bannan and Ireland who I'd rather see in the side ahead of Makoun any day of the week.

Makoun / Berson / Curcic / Thompson / Sidwell ...
why is it that we have been so poor at exploiting good midfielders over the last 20 or so years?

My main concern is the cover for injury and Petrov's 60-minute syndrome.

Regarding Jean the second, this happens with most new managers, they just don't take to someone for whatever reason. It's a shame,as he supposedly looked good in pre season, and unless he's been awful in training,I wished he'd been given a run of games as he's still untried in Premier league.

Must mean someone is coming in pretty soon.

I saw Makoun as a replacement for Petrov and I'd rather not put all my faith in a couple of kids who only have about 30 starts between them.  DOn't get me wrong, I think they'll be great, just seems a lot for them to carry on their own.

I know ne hasn't been in the job that long, but I was hoping that Arthur Numan would have come up with some gems for us from the Erdevise. I was also hoping he'd try and persude AMc or Randy to get Leroy Fer in from Feyenoord, similar to Sissoko from Toulouse in that Vierra mould. Into the last year of his current contract and not looking like he's going to sign a new one. Shouldn't be too expensive and wages will be relatively low.

Someone like Saha at Everton -who did have an injury blighted spell  in the second half of his stint at Old Toilet would be a punt.

Signing Hargreaves would be tantamount to carrying out a sack of used notes (to the value of at least a million) at the North Stand carpark and burning them.

Why not set fire to them UNDER the North Stand and do two jobs in one?
