The People have picked a figure out of thin air.  2-3 mill max.

I hope it's even less than than to be honest.  Or, we don't bother at all and spend the cash elsewhere.

Forget Milner or Johnson- city will not let them
leave and they are very much a part of their squad unlike Bellamy and swp.
Hargreaves on a pay as you play basis is interesting but I doubt he'd stay fit for long, Hutton at £6m I suspect would not happen but at £3m max it probably will go ahead.

Now that Luke Young has gone I think Hutton would be a decent addition (even if I'd try to get by with what we have at RB and spend the money elsewhere) but selling Luke for at best £2million and signing another player of roughly the same quality for £6million is shocking business so I'd hope we get him way cheaper.

I too think there is a player in Beye. He impressed me when I watched Newcastle that season but I'm not sure if he'll get a run this season. I think he'll be content to go through the motions, pick up his paycheck and then depart for a big pay day in the middle East at the end of the season.

Hutton is a few years younger, taller, quicker and much better going forward but prone to being caught out of position so overall I'd see him as an upgrade.

Hargreaves is a tantalising one. There have to be huge concerns about his fitness but there's no doubting his ability. It's a gamble but one worth taking I reckon.

6 million for Hutton is extortion, but Levy is a much better negotiator than Lerner/ Faulkner. Spurs sell high, buy low and have a very good conveyor belt of buying before they are the next big thing and selling them on for huge profit. It results in having better players to watch much of the time, despite knowing you are unlikely to really challenge. The way their football side is run, is streets ahead of ours.

They've got better players than us, but in two games against two of the best two teams despite all of that they've been utterly battered. Not even competitive. I don't really see Levy as any better than Faulkner at getting good deals. Bent was a steal at 18m, and we've struck good deals and/or made significant profits on Young, Milner, Downing and Barry.

I think Spurs fans watching this will be thinking (like us) as much they want to keep their best players, that they should have sold Modric and used the money elsewhere. It's all good and well playing the hard man in negotiations, but there needs to be benefit to the club. I think Levy has done his club a disservice by not selling early enough so that Redknapp had time to buy wisely.

How does the play as you play actually work, I'm assuming it's an insurance against injury prone players, so if the pluer is fit and available for selection and doesn't getpicked or just makes the bench, does he get any wages ?

He gets a flat rate (which will be quite low say £20K) and then a large bonus for each game he plays if I have it right.

we should play herd in right sided midfield 4, and get hutton to play right back . then use eric lhej as cover for both left and right back

pretty much. It's a contract with essentially lower guaranteed money and a number of incentives to bring the player up to market value if he plays and hits certain performance criteria.

Where would you play Gabby then? Alongside Bent? I'm not sure that'd be a balanced team. Bannan, Ireland need to be in a central midfield three I feel. In a 4-4-2, a central midfield of Petrov with Makoun/Delph wouldn't create enough... I think we need a central midfield three with two wide men supporting Bent and a creative player like Bannan in the centre.

dont worry about harry having little time to buy , i expect he knows who he wants and has already lined them up waiting in case modric goes -no flies on the old dog.

Gabby and petrov have impressed me this season ,ireland or bannan need to replace heskey though as both have that creative flair for a pass that we have been lacking.

Emile is a useful bench option if chasing the game but a creative midfielder he is not.

It think Spurs market ability has knocked spots off ours in the last 4-5 years TV.

And the depressing thing is you know that if Modric does go Harry will have sorted out a couple to get in to cover, Diarra, Parker, another Striker, Adebayor etc.

I won't dispute that Ozz, and being in the CL will have helped them immensely. Unfortunately though, and they'll start to see this next season when more of their top players leave if they don't get CL football, that as high profile as they are they'll start to only attract a certain level of player. It's not like Man City where money made up for the lack of CL football. Spurs' wage structure will hinder them and Levy does not bend on that.

Harry will pull some deals and Spurs as a club has been better prepared than us in the transfer market for a good while now. I hope that McLeish in time is given the resources to help us improve on that. It really wasn't a MON strength or priority. I think Houllier would have been much better at it had he been able to stay.

West Ham midfielder Scott Parker is on the verge of joining Tottenham. "It will come to fruition in the next 24 hours or so," said Hammers boss Sam Allardyce...........from BBC Sport
