Hargreaves is made of glass and would be a completely pointless addition, if there was any chance that he was over his injuries then Ferguson would never have released him, he's finished now and will probably end up in the major league or middle east.

Luke Young played at left back a lot didn't he? With Walker playing right.

Honestly we don't need a RB. Herd will do and we still have  Happy Day on our books and there is always Carlos. If we buy it has to be a quality real quality wide man and/or centre midfield.

You forgot Lichaj. I think he is a very decent right back who was a bit unlucky to be frozen out by Houllier.
Frozen out?

Wasn't he on loan at Leeds while Luke Young played most of the season as first choice?

He was sent out on loan after a game (possibly against Man City?) when Houllier had a bit of a pop at him for his performance in the post match conference. I think Walker came in a game or two after that.

Milner and Johnson on the bench again for Citeh.  Surely we could tempt them to loan us one of them?  I've just read an article in the Times about England's future and they've discarded Jimmy in that, whereas 14 months ago he was the future!  Let's get him back in the picture.

Walker is also on the bench for Spurs, has he been playing in their other games?

Started against Man Utd last week, was subbed at half time though.

Second half of the season Young was on the left with Walker at RB.

Milner will take his title medal and whatever others he gets this season I am sure then move for first team football. The waste of him as a cetnral midfielder is another factor of how shitty the money some clubs has have done to the game.

I would definately rather we bought Hutton than no-one.  The kids are alright, but it'd be a massive risk to rely on them for the whole season.  Beye, well, is Habib Beye.  I rate Hutton on a very similar level to Luke, so being about 6 years younger and available pretty cheap would be a good buy.

as much as I agree with that he also knew what he was getting himself into. That for me is even sadder because he had a good thing going with us and a platform from which to build on. I get why he went and others go to, and the money is stupid, but a football player plays football. At least that's how it used to be.

The People claim the deal for Hutton is priced at six mill.  I hope we'd pay a lot less than that for a bloke in the last year of his contract.  For that kind of money, I would rather McLeish spend it elsewhere on the team.

6 million for Hutton is extortion, but Levy is a much better negotiator than Lerner/ Faulkner. Spurs sell high, buy low and have a very good conveyor belt of buying before they are the next big thing and selling them on for huge profit. It results in having better players to watch much of the time, despite knowing you are unlikely to really challenge. The way their football side is run, is streets ahead of ours.

The People have picked a figure out of thin air.  2-3 mill max.

Habib Beye was player of the year the season before he joined us.  Admittedly it was for a relegated Newcastle but there must be some sort of footballer there.  I'd imagine that many people (including myself) dislike Beye the footballer because of the appalling value for money he has been rather that what we have seen him do whilst playing right back (his preferred position).

Licaj looks a good player from what I have seen and heard from Leeds fans.  Beye can be used as a decent insurance policy (along with Cuellar) allowing the club to either save some cash or reinvest in other priorities.

I don't see the point in making stop-gap signings such as Hutton, especially at 6m, just because we fans want a bit of excitement in the transfer window.  Either buy quality or risk the kids.
