The thing about medicine is, you can sometimes make the ailment worse by administering too much of it. We need to sort our finances but we also need to nourish Aston Villa during the convalesence. With the sale of Luke Young I think Randy's really taking the piss. We simply have to replace him.

I accept their had to be cuts. I think any reasonable fan would agree that average players at villa are getting paid too much. However, with Downing, Luke, Ashley, Friedal, NRC, Carew, Hogg  all gone and Given and N'Zog in, we aren't just cutting back, we're taking a flipping machete to the club. We now have players filling in, playing out of position and rather than building a team to compete, we're dismantling one that came pretty damn close.

I hope more than anyone can imagine to be eating humble pie by 1 September. I hope Randy comes good and invests wisely in two or three players but I won't be holding my breath.

I think Herd will be a good replacement for L Young , he looks fitter and more enthusiastic to me.
As far as the list of players you quote none of them bar AY & SD were tree pullers last year and the main two were playing for their own agendas: at least the team seems to be pulling together as a unit this time round.

Given & Nzogbia are going to be important performers for us as they settle in and we can look forward to seeing some of our own grown players come into the equation too.

From a medicinal perspective take the homeopathic route for a chill pill and get real about replacing RL ...have you got the money?

Just think if we could buy Ashley Young, Stewart Downing, Nigel ReoCoker and Kyle Walker to improve us, hold on they all just left..

Add Friedal to that and that's FIVE players gone from the first 11 with only 2 being replaced.

So we have gone backwards.

Well it was a good point about wages so maybe some swap deals to help reduce costs.

For eg if ireland was offered in swap deal for cole or smith then we re talking sound business.

Also maybe offering ireland to qpr or better still chelsea, if modric deals falls through, in swap for loans of ferreira and sturridge.

Theres also possibility , though i admit a bit speculative, moving for macheda for two season loan and ireland being given in return.

Another swap deal would be cuellar for whittaker at gers.

Think if we pulled any of these moves off wuld both reduces wage bill and add quality replacements
