Absolutely villanation regarding Young. Not an amazing right back but a good solid one. Warnock was worrying today. IF Hutton comes in he should be as least as good as Young there. Buy we are now waffer thin.

Bent certainly isn't the cleverest of footballers but he knows how to run on the shoulder of the defenders and knows where the back of the net is. Similar to gabby. Again not an intelligent footballer but can score goals. They're very similar players.

I can see why AM would want tonsee how the centre back pairing will go before changing that as they were great season before last but the midfield looks so piss poor. We hadn't replaced barry when he left. Ok we ddidnt need to with Milner switching from out wide so that softened the blow of Barry leaving. But since Milner left we've just had this midfield void all last season. Now with the double blow of young (which yes we knew about) and Downing gone the void has just got wider.

We had a damn good midfield and it's been allowed to get torn apart with no adequate replacements being found. Heskey in that role behind bent is a joke. We got well and truly stuffed with the Milner deal having Ireland come our way. The guy is as mad as a hatter. I would of liked to of seen him play by now. Unless of course he is injured and I'm not aware of it. Bannan looked lively Tuesday. But he isn't that box to box work horse Barry and Milner were for us. Petrov doesn't have the legs. Although not is biggest fan in the past he looks much better with having younger players such as Delph and bannan around him. But nothing about the team at the moment wets my appetite. I don't look at the team sheet, rub my hands together with a smile on my face thinking we're going to have an exciting game today. I suppose at the moment I'm bored. And I'm only 3 games into the season.

I apologise Brice, Jimmy Bullard and Johnathan Spector would improve our squad without doubt, what was i thinking. Up The Villa!

Only if Ricardo Fuller were there to complement them.

The thing about medicine is, you can sometimes make the ailment worse by administering too much of it. We need to sort our finances but we also need to nourish Aston Villa during the convalesence. With the sale of Luke Young I think Randy's really taking the piss. We simply have to replace him.

I accept their had to be cuts. I think any reasonable fan would agree that average players at villa are getting paid too much. However, with Downing, Luke, Ashley, Friedal, NRC, Carew, Hogg  all gone and Given and N'Zog in, we aren't just cutting back, we're taking a flipping machete to the club. We now have players filling in, playing out of position and rather than building a team to compete, we're dismantling one that came pretty damn close.

I hope more than anyone can imagine to be eating humble pie by 1 September. I hope Randy comes good and invests wisely in two or three players but I won't be holding my breath.

@brice:

Here are players I would  run the rule over if I where AM, wouldn't be expensive and other clubs have a look as there have been rumour of them leaving, and wouldn't cost the earth.

Gregory van der Wiel.............Ajax, good strong back with lots of ability.

 Luis Miguel Brito García Monteiro (Miguel)......................Miguel of Valencia, MON looked at him a while back, should have got him then, still should, a really focused defender that could easily cope with the Premiership.

This next one is a player that a mate of mine who works over in Holland told me about, goes to feyanoord games and seen him only a couple of times but he said this bloke is very much like Ashley Young but will be a lot better and we could get him now and probably for not a lot, creative, fast, tricky, can cross a ball (Bent) play predominantly on the left but also left of midfield but a real attacking player...............talking about...Jerson Cabral of Feyanoord fc.

And would cost us the best part of £20m to sign.

Van der wiel great shout could be tricky to prise away like other posters have said.

Have u seen boy erikksen at ajax
gonna be a real deal for denmark unlike bender from arsenal.

An attacking right back would be ideal and any sneaky moves for the top class ones would have to be on loan i would think

@brice:

From what I've heard and its no more and no less than that, but the 2 players we are likely to get in before the window closes are, Beram Kayal, Celtic, AM as reportedly been up to Celtic to approach the club about the player, he has rejected a new contract form Celtic, the club have rejected an offer from Bolton as to little and Villa have tabled an increased offer and it seems likely they will except this late in the window.

Hutton, which has been rumbling on for ages seems odds on.

So that would be a Midfielder and a back and Hutton is an attacking back by anybodies standards.

Watched Ericksson a few months back in a friendly that was on the net, there are some really talented players over there, not sure why we don't scout out that way far more aggressively, would pay us dividends IMO.

Are you hoping with all your will power that this is what happens? Lol!

I so want Ireland to become a success with us. Last week before the man city match sky were doing their usual build up and a lot of it included snippets involving Ireland.

He's such a good player when he wants to be.

I'd be happy with hutton. Decent replacement for young. More attacking. Does that mean potentially AM could play one winger in a 5 man midfield? Either N'Zogbia or Albrighton one side and Hutton providing the width on the opposite side from
The full back position?

You're right Villanation there is an abundance of talent out there. I just think our scouts suffer with sea sickness or are afraid of flying.

Anyways. I'm off out for the night now. I'm being very negative tonight and I don't know why.

Sorry for being all doom and gloom tonight. I'll try and pick myself back up

Young money apparently spent in advance on bent and the downing cash on nzogbia , given and debts I presume.
so, where did the Milner money go ?

We're losing 40m a year. That's where it went.

What are the rumours surrounding Kayal? Is this just Twitter nonsense or real life?
