The worry I have is that randy has maybe  decided the top 4 dream is no longer realistic and maybe recouping what money he can .

"Worry"?

Hate to have to tell you this, eastie, but that's exactly what is happening right now, it is clear as day.

It's certainly looking more and more like it is what's happening.

Hutton & Palacios would improve us leaps & bounds.

Nonsense.  Haven't you heard: we're actually doing things the "right" way now - sustainable spending on younger players, promoting youth and relying less on star names.  You know, the way that has brought success to, er, no-one.

Yep it's doing a good job of driving away the fans, thus reducing revenue. It's a stroke of genius!

Sadly we are now one of those teams it appears who are happy to be in premiership and surviving there- without big spending we will never catch the richer clubs and the the gap with the stokes and sunderlands has diminished greatly- I feel sorry for eck as the generals words about the backing he could expect seem empty and shallow.

We're not in Europe and we've got three right backs on 40k+ a week. Cuellar, Lichaj and Beye will be enough for this season. I'd rather the money from Luke go towards a midfield player.

Warnock, Clark, Delph and Baker is enough at left back.

Not ideal but it'll be fine.

Everybody seems to have forgotten Herd.  He had a decent enough game on Tuesday admittedly against poor opposition but is another cover for right or left back or midfield.  Lichaj did play well at left back.

Herd in NOT the answer.

You were saying.........?

Villa Park has been a dreadfully unhappy place since Man City started to chase Milner.

I wonder would things have been different if we'd won the League Cup? It's a counter-factual point but it was tragic that team had no silverware to show for its efforts.

Between 2006-10 there was a sense of building something special. For twelve months we've watched as a team is dismantled. And what have we replaced those players with? We have Emile Heskey playing in central midfield for fecks sake! And we used to moan about Mellberg being played at right back? What I wouldn't give to have to 'endure' a season of Olaf Mellberg out of position at right back over this...

We can only hope the thousands of empty seats will knock some sense into the board.

Herd played well today.
But he is not the answer.
I think he will be 'torn a new one' when he comes up against decent opposition.

I was proved rite with my assesment of jon hogg. Hogwash player as average and the championship is his level.

I'm looking forward to solid right back coming in and maybe a couple of loan moves or signings before window closes?

Onuoha, Joe Cole, riccardo fuller would be great moves.

I'm gob smacked at what's going on. I'm trying to stay ever positive and see if we're bringing people in by the end of the window.

But I just can't see it happening I seriously though with Randy bringing in AM he would of softened the blow with backing him in the transfer Market and brining in some signings, still trimming the squad but actively signing the players. Given and N'Zogbia are great, but it should of been the start of things.

Luke Young, granted was on a high wage but he's been our most solid full back over the last few years and with no replacement. This is worrying for me, we seem to be trimming back a little too much.

At this rate the coalition will be ringing randy up for tips on cut backs.

Darren Bent has been exactly what villa have lacked over the few years. We finally get a 20 goal a season man and we're screwing it up by not given him the supply he needs. He must look at Sunderland now and they must look like one of the power houses compared to us.
The stark reality IS that we are now in the mix, competing with teams like  Stoke, Fulham, Bolton and Newcastle who are fighting each other for players and league position in and around mid table. Even some of the teams I have just mentioned seem to have more ambition that us at the moment.

I'm so depressed I can't put into words. Seeing my wonderful team Aston villa being ripped apart in front of me. It's heart and soul vitually gone. Today's game showed we have nothing. We can defend ok. We can play ok. But we don't have that killer instinct. That player that can set it alight. Get you off your seat in amazement. N'Zogbia seemed to of missed a sitter today and that was the highlight of a very dull game for me.

It's all very well having members of the board saying the ambition is still aiming for the top. But anyone can say that. It's like me saying one day I'm going to be a millionaire... Ok but just by saying it isn't going tk make it happen.

It's going to be a very long, dull, uninspiring season with nothing coming in and AM being hung out to dry. He's already got his excuse ready if he does badly and does get sacked...
" I had to sell players and I couldn't bring anyone in until the wage bill was brought back under control. No one can work under those circumstances."

I do hope someone comes in with some good news or some exciting ITK to cheer me up because after today I could hang meself!

Anyway, sorry guys. Rant over. And sorry mods that I've ended up being completely off topic for most of this post.

No onuha , joe cole and riccardo fuller all getable and add a bit of flair. Have to look at players like these as well as likes of hutton salgado ngog wright phillips i wouldnt really expect too much else..
Btw could have done with jimmy bullard coming on today
he came on for ipswich @ 1-0 down to leeds and helped turn round for victory. Quality player.
We also missed out on excellent sam baldock who i recommended moved to west ham. West brom took shane long another quality player. I think jon spector would have been worth a shout - he was relseased from west ham.

Either Brice knows nothing whatsoever about football or he is just taking the piss. I'm swaying towards the later. One to ignore i think.

Midnite:

Just to look at a few points, I'm with you on the Luke Young thing, not because I think he's that good but that AM should without doubt got his replacement in right now.

The Darren Bent point, tell you what, I never got on the love bus when he came to the club, not because I don't rate the player because his record speaks for itself, I could actually see a potential for a major embarrassment, why, well because it was immediately obvious to me that Darren Bent would face the same problems that Gabby and Carew have faced for season after season, and when all the wooden heads have been banging on about how Gabby is not a natural goal scorer, was obvious to me that this super goal ace coming to the club would end up the same way, maybe 15/16 goals a season if he's lucky, difference between him and Gabby, Bent will get the first bus out come the next transfer window if the bloke keeps getting starved of chances.

N'Zogbia, never saw him as a like for like as good as replacement for Young or Downing, but his got time and we could all be amazed.

As for AM, I don't reckon he can chalk to many performances like today, not the result so much but anybody looking at the team can see it screams negativity.

AM needs to get out there and create some good news by getting the players in we need before the window closes otherwise I fear for his tenure at Villa, even in the short term.

@ Nclampy
please could you add to thread by discussing transfer speculation and thoughts on player trading rather than trying to dismiss my own valid opinions. Im actually quite insulted by people on here who get personal and dont actually contribute to a thread about players transfers.
I think at this moment its a tricky time for our club and players that i mention  are all viable options. If you or others dont rate them in your opinion then fair enough. I recommend you stating your case or just posting your own thoughts on which players villa could bring in. I ve mentioned before about respect so as a fellow villa fan with clearly different views be a bit more open minded and a decent human. I like speculating and im entitled to that so i dont want dickish comments.
I add to this forum as much as other people !! Up the villa !

I have also reported this to moderators as a regulated forum a poster shud be able to post his football opinions without having people make claims they are not genuine or real just because it doesnt fit in with their views.
So i hope thats clear.

I will continue on discussion on player transfers and hope others can add to it too !
Thanku
