Does anyone know if we're talking to or are considering specific players?

Big Eck has specifically said he has no interest in Gibson (phew!)  and Parker (shame).
But when pressed on Hutton said:  "He's a Tottenham player, I won't talk about another clubs players."

So Hutton.

Onohu (sic) would be good for a loan. Maybe the same with Palacios, with a view to a permanent, least he'd give us bite in midfield.

Olympiakos back in for Makoun
Villa midfielder understood to be keen on move to Greece
Last Updated: August 27, 2011 3:15pm

Skysports.com understands Olympiakos have revived their bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jean Makoun on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Villa rejected an offer for the Cameroon international earlier in the week as manager Alex McLeish is currently reluctant to lose any of his fringe players without bringing in replacements.

Makoun has yet to feature in the Premier League this season and was an unused substitute in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Wolves.

He did start the Carling Cup success over Hereford United and admitted earlier in the week that he would be prepared to fight for his place at Villa Park.
However, it is understood that the January arrival from Lyon would also be keen on the possibility of a move to Greek giants Olympiakos.

UEFA Champions League football is on offer at Olympiakos, who have been drawn in the same group as Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.
Makoun has started just seven games in the Premier League for Villa since being signed by McLeish's predecessor Gerard Houllier.

Speculation on twitter suggesting Arsenal may be in for Darren Bent. I can't see it myself, he's not good enough technically. But he would get a shed load of goals for them. I reckon attendances would drop below 25k if we did that!

I can see it now on the back on the Sun. Villa turn down £7m derisory Bent offer from Arsenal.

How much would we want and would they pay it?

I think it is very much a non-starter. File under B for bollocks.

Young, Cuellar and possible Makoun out with Hutton and another coming in. Would like to see a big name loan signing but who?

Since AMC stated that nobody else would be leaving we have seen Hogg, Young & Weimann (Loan) leave the club.

Now we're seeing reports of Makoun too.

We need 3 players as it is and if we lose Cuellar as well it should be more. Not really bothered about Hutton though as we have cover in Lichaj, Beye & Herd.

Dann, Jarvis & Palacios IN. I made it up here first.

I am a bit confused with Mcleish saying no players will leave, now we have lost two and possibly three. What is going on?

The way the board are going if Arsenal offered 25 million I reckon they would take it. It has gone beyond stupid this summer. Piss up in a brewery.

Sadly i think you've hit the nail on the head. If someone comes calling for Bent in January i can see him being sold with probably 10m spent on a replacement

If I was Bent, I'd be gone in a shot, especially after these 3 games, what other team would play Heskey as a support striker who never actually passes to the main striker?

I don't think Eck was talking about the likes of Hogg and Weimann when he said that. Weimann has just signed a new contract and gone out on loan, so there's not too much to worry about there. If Makoun goes though and we only bring in a right back, then that's the time to worry.

Frankly the approach we are taking is completely wrecking my enthusiasm, we have gone backwards rapidly. We look so pathetically unambitious.
