Luke Young was injured and unavailable for tomorrow. Lichaj or Beye will play right back until Cuellar's fit I presume.

that just sums it up for me. a kid or a duffer to play there until a centre-half gets fit .....

Give Beye and Lichaj a chance before we condem them. He has not said he is going to use Cuellar as right back. Youngs wages will free up an opening for a player or two elsewhere. Mcleish has already explained the situation ......

Although that's obviously JJ's opinion and not the offical line from the club, but don't let that get in the way of good whinge.

Luke Young was probably the most dependable defender we had last season whether at RB or LB. Never spectacular but dependable.
Hopefully Dunne , Collins and Warnock  are on their way back to being at least dependable if not better.
Give Lichaj a shot at making the RB position his own and we have Beye to come in if it doesn't work out.
No need to panic I think.

He had moved back to London after being dropped for Cuellar and probably wanted to be closer to his family since the death of his brother so can't blame him for that. We didn't want to sell him and he did have an opportunity to join Liverpool last year but a club in London comes in and we'll probably get 2mil for him and 40 odd grand off the books so it all makes sense. Lichaj looked good at Leeds and we can only see how he gets on with game time in the first team, plus I think we have Hutton in the bag as Walker has the RB spot at Spurs now.

Whoever comes in tomorrow will have a game on his hands as he'll be up against Jarvis. I'd give Beye a run out. I don't think he's as bad as some on here think.

The one coming in could be a right back tbf. I just think it'll be a midfielder. I want it to be as well. I'd rather make do at right back than centre midfield.

Not knocking JJ, it's a possible scenario, but maybe Young is being moved out to make way for a younger better RB to be bought in. Or maybe McLeish thinks Lichaj is ready to cement the place for himself. Let's be fair he's shown glimpses of being a good player and at 22 is hardly a 'kid' anymore.
I think getting a fee for a 32 year old and shifting a rather hefty weekly salary allowing development of the team is a smart move by AMc.

Maybe losing Luke's wages will allow two players to be bought in?

Who froze Young out leading to his move back darn sarf - GHou or O'Neill?

Lichaj has impressed me, I'd start him tomorrow and give him a run. Haven't seen Hutton enough to pass judgement.

He's still our best fullback currently and you can't have ALL kids. It's all very well selling him if we can get as good in, but lets face it we'll be paying less wages for them so who is there? Someone like Hutton who's failed at Spurs is hardly inspiring. Personally i get the feeling the only reason they've accepted a bid for Young is because its the only offer they've had, and they are still desperate to reduce the wage bill, not because AM wants to sell him.

I think they both had a go at freezing him out, but I imagine the loss of his brother may have taken him back there too.
Agree on Lichaj, would give him his chance too!

Agree on Hutton Greg and have also thought the selling of Luke could be because we can't get rid of Beye or Cuellar, but if that's the case then so be it, if it's for the greater good of the squad. Yes Luke's a decent fullback, but he's not irreplaceable and possibly replaceable from within,(Lichaj). There's also the possibility that we have targets from abroad and therefore his over inflated wages could be split more ways than one.

If he goes, then best of luck to you Luke except for when you play the mighty Villa, he has been a good player for us and we should have signed him earlier in his career.
