Sad to see luke go, he's decent in both full back positions and id expect the arrival of Hutton pretty quickly as his replacement.

He's almost 32. He's a solid player but not a critical loss. AM said that we'd be trading so I expect very much to see a new RB in next week. Hutton (if it is him) isn't a step down from Luke and he's a few years younger. Plus, we do have Carlos coming back in, and Lichaj can play both sides.

I'll say we better sign a player we need if we are losing Young. He's quite a significant chunk on the wage bill.

Selling Luke Young seems like a very retarded thing to do.

Really disappointed if we loose Luke Young, he covers both RB and LB positions well.

Curious to know though how much we'd let him go for???   How much did we almost get from Liverpool for him almost 12 months ago?

I'd really be surprised if AM didn't bring Hutton in should indeed Luke go.
I share the same feelings

Over the last 3 years Luke Young has been great for us. Very reliable and did a superb job at left back for a while. He's a player who's been very underrated for us imo.

I really don't know if it's a good idea getting rid of our best right back to not even bring someone in of his quality atleast.

If we get Hutton then I won't mind too much, but I don't really want to see Cuellar at right back again and I don't know if Lichaj could be responsible starting as our new right back.

I have rather the opposite view, which doesn't mean it is correct of course, in thinking he has always been one of our more over-rated players. I certainly wouldn't use words such as 'great' or 'superb' but just my opinion, realise others see it differently. I remember thinking when we signed him that at last we had bought a really good attacking full back but that has never quite materialised for me. Decent yes, good sometimes, but has never quite gone beyond that for me...

Six months ago my opinion of Hutton was down there with that of Krancjaer (sp?) et al, but I have to admit he did play quite well in that run he had in the Spurs team last season....

What about Nathan Clyne as a replacement, we were linked last summer and AM was rumoured close to signing him at SHA ??

Andi Weimann has just tweeted he's back at Watford on Loan.

Odd considering he's just signed a three-year contract extension today and didn't look out of place in his time on the pitch on Tuesday.  I hope there is a recall clause in the loan agreement.

In contrast to a few opinions I don't see Carlos as a RB, I rate him at CB and think he was unlucky to loose his place in the team (as a CB), but his distribution is poor and when getting forward he gets completely lost.

His career has been very stop/start in Eng;and. He's 26, is at a club with a very similar wage structure so he won't be on big money, and he was quite expensive when he came down here because he really isn't that bad a player. He's fit now, so only time will tell if he finds his true form again. This is all hypothetical off course and we could be signing Maicon or Dani Alves (YEH RIGHT!!)

Do you think Mcleish watched Beye`s brazillian type run against Hereford. And thought this is what we need Ha. Beye is not as bad as most people believe he has a height advantage over Young and seen a clip of him on AVTV and he looks seriously powerful. Lichaj is doing well for the USA and is adequate cover. £40k a week wages for Young could get a quality player elsewhere ......

Gutted to see Luke Young go, he's never let the club down at RB, LB or on the odd occasion at CB. Yes, he's 32, but in my opinion still a better option at RB than Habib 'fucking' Beye who is on the same amoung of money and is not half the player of Luke Young.

The trouble is every other club agrees that Beye isn't good enough and that's why no-one is trying to buy him from us

The lad has got promise but you would be worried if he did look out of place against Hereford.  Good move again, get some more experience.  I'd be of a completely different opinion if it were Bannan for example though.
