I feel that Luke Young was always going to go, he's wanted to be closer to his london based family since his brother died.

Fair play to him.

Onuha would be my first choice to get in, he's out of favour at Man City.

and in talks with West Brom!

We're not in Europe and we've got three right backs on 40k+ a week. Cuellar, Lichaj and Beye will be enough for this season. I'd rather the money from Luke go towards a midfield player.

Warnock, Clark, Delph and Baker is enough at left back.

Not ideal but it'll be fine.

Everybody seems to have forgotten Herd.  He had a decent enough game on Tuesday admittedly against poor opposition but is another cover for right or left back or midfield.  Lichaj did play well at left back.

Young is having a medical now, I don't necessarily think it means someone else will come in.

I'm not overly happy with Luke going.
It seems to me that he is being sacrificed, rather than being let go because its best for us.
We can't seem to offload some of the real wasters we need get rid of, so in order to 'TRADE!' we are prepared to let him go.
I will not suprised if we don't being a right back to replace him.

Herd in NOT the answer.

I didn't say he was the answer. None of them are, but he is a cover for several positions.

What about Nathan Clyne as a replacement, we were linked last summer and AM was rumoured close to signing him at SHA ??

Andi Weimann has just tweeted he's back at Watford on Loan.

Really disappointed if we loose Luke Young, he covers both RB and LB positions well.

Curious to know though how much we'd let him go for???   How much did we almost get from Liverpool for him almost 12 months ago?

I'd really be surprised if AM didn't bring Hutton in should indeed Luke go.

I thought it was common knowledge he is after Hutton. Pretty nailed on I would have thought.

Aye, it's the fact that he's comfortable (and good) in two key positions that troubles me too.

But his age means we were going to need a replacement sooner or later. I'd prefer later, but if we have a younger, better version lined up so be it.

Unhappy to see Luke Young leave Villa Park. He has been a very good player. I only hope Mcleish is letting him go to free up wages for another position. He would of not played tomorrow as he is injured. Beye will probably replace him. Hope a bit of business will be done this week, we need fresh faces of quality .......

I don't blame Luke Young, getting towards the end of his career & no doubt wants to be with his family back in the Wimbledon area after the tradgey of his brothers death the other year.

No doubt we have someone lined up.

Onuha would be my guess, if not, Alan Hutton.

Lichaj deserves a run of games IMO in the mean time

Can people actually remember Beye playing bad at right back? I cannot remember a game where he has played there.

I share the same feelings

Over the last 3 years Luke Young has been great for us. Very reliable and did a superb job at left back for a while. He's a player who's been very underrated for us imo.

I really don't know if it's a good idea getting rid of our best right back to not even bring someone in of his quality atleast.

If we get Hutton then I won't mind too much, but I don't really want to see Cuellar at right back again and I don't know if Lichaj could be responsible starting as our new right back.
