I don't think there's a hope in hell we'll sign anyone so we may as well just pretend the window has already shut

why is it frustrating?
Well because its clear we need to strengthen the squad but we are out of money.

What's the problem with that. Puts us in the same position as 90% of the football league, and we are probably in a better position than most.

Depends on your ambitions for the club i guess- if you are happy to survive and not challenge for the top honours then thats fine , like most fans i would prefer for my club to be able to attract the top players and compete for the top trophies.

Sadly without major investment the gap will widen and given the choice id much rather be competing for the top 4 than surviving, but thats the way it goes and football sadly is about the rich getting richer nowadays.

I'd like to think we're still going to be able to attract top players again in the nearish future, such as we did with Bent, provided we can get our own house in order first.

Think tottenham would of suited Ash. But long term he has made the right choice. Would love us to beat utd at Villa Park .........

I merely speculate with bullard
he is a cheap viable option.
Strentghening in midfield is needed so a shot at a pay as you play deal or one year contract -like we did pires- would make sense.
Movee for bullard would be to boost numbers and add much experience in midfield.
I also believe a move to bring in
alan smith would be shrewd business. Both these players are proven worth taing a chance

Ah, I see what's going on now; the thread has become a vehicle to suggest the worst possible signings we shouldn't touch with a borrowed barge pole.

In that case, my vote goes to Stephen Ireland.

Ah, fuck it.....

Bullard be more effective than ireland in a midfield role

I read that with a pirate voice in my head

I read it with the voice of Bomber from Auf Weidersehen Pet.
