Talking about Liverpool, all those new players will take time to gell even if they are better than i give credit, be lucky to finish in the top six me thinks.

If you all think Modric is over rated then what about Scott Parker? One of the most over hyped players in recent years (mainly by the London Press admittedly).

A decent steady player, yes. But only marginally better than say NRC or Joey Barton IMO, and nothing special at all.

I really don't get this. Parker and Modric are both excellent players.

The scousers are so deluded.

they reckoned that they were "awesome" in the first half against Sunderland, fuck me you would have thought they were playing Barcelona.

A midfield with Downing, Adam and Henderson no thanks!

I agree that Scott parker is overated

never been overly impressed by him in an England shirt, just runs about a lot passing the ball 10 yards sideways. Looks quality for West Ham when surrounded by shit players - a bit like Charlie Adam who will be found out big time at Liverpool.

It will be interesting to see how Adam does at Liverpool. Your comment reminded me of a conversation I had with Barry Bannan in McDonalds in Blackpool on the Saturday night after we'd played there in February (really!). I asked him what he thought of Adam as they'd just played together for Scotland and we'd been heavily linked with him.

His reply: "Its easy to stand out in a shit team".

I sort of agree, but then I think NRC and Barton are both good players (even if one is a cock!) and so being better than them makes him a very good player.  He may not be a reincarnation of George Best, but he's exactly what our side needs right now.
I had a lot of time for NRC especially as I thought he was f*cked around by managers.
IMO AM is looking for one of our present number to do that Parker/Barton job: Makoun/Delph the most likely. If it doesn't work perhaps his hand (and RL's) will be forced in January (when it's even less likely that there will be anybody about to fill much needed boots)
But I remain optimistic that my fab hope for the future, Fab, will be a great player for us for some years!

I must admit to also being in the I don't get the hype posse when it comes to Modric.

Spurs fans here in Cambridgeshire tell me he is a cross between Maradona and Pele with just a hint of Cruyff  ::)

A midfield of downing , Henderson and Adam- yes please!

Liverpool will be pushing for the top 4 no question this season and the top 6 is a certainty at worst.

Amazed anyone can rate modric and Parker as slightly better than reo- Coker, I like Nigel but Parker and modric are top class players.

As ever, Liverpool's hopes depend on getting Gerrard fit. If he plays the majority of the season then they'll be pushing for the top 4, without him it looks a bit lightweight to me.

I think the question marks in there side are Gerrard (fitness) and Carroll (ability to achieve his potential).  If both go right for them then they'll challenge for top 4, if not then they'll be top 6 at best.

Liverpool will struggle to make top 4 imo. For the money they have spent (£90 million?), I'd want better than Henderson, Adam, Downing and Carroll, it's decent but not great.

Carroll 35mill vs Aguero 35 mill...
Downing 20 mill vs Nzogbia 10 mill...

Some shocking dealings there...

Although I like Parker and think he is very good, I have always thought Noble who plays alongside Parker is a better player.

I agree with this.

At 31 aswell, Gerrard is past his best and will continue getting injuries.

Suarez is flipping superb though and Carroll could be.

The term world class is used far too much.

Messi = World Class
Modric = Above Average

What a stupid comparison.

Messi = greatest player ever, therefor can only be compared with the likes of Maradonna, Pele etc.

Modric would walk into every team in the world bar Barcelona and maybe Madrid because of Alonso. To me that's world class.

According to everyone on here, everybody is overrated unless they are Ronaldo or Messi.

HJK Helsinki beat Schalke 2-0. Both goals were scored by 21-year-old Teemu Pukki. He might be the answer to Team Finland's chronic lack of adequate quality forwards. Forssell has played even when crocked and non-scoring. Pukki is widely considered to be one of the most talented finns of his generation. Now he has fulfilled his promise. For 95 minutes at least.

So if this wasn't a one off accident, sign him up!

Another one to keep an eye on from HJK is 20-year-old midfielder Alexander Ring. He's Schweinsteiger of Helsinki. Ring spent his youth at Leverkusen so expect Schalke to sign him pretty soon. Finnish players are dirt cheap compared to the swedes, norwegians or danes.
