Mirror reporting fulham are looking to sign luke young and say Luke is up for the move - they also say mcleish wants to sign Hutton if he can raise the cash.

Is Hutton a better attacking player than Luke?  If so perhaps AM would see it as giving us a better option going forward.

Hopefully now Arsenal have some cash, they might finally cough up for the Bolton defender. That should give us a couple of million. His wonder strike at the weekend was even better than the goal he scored for us against the Rags.

It was about a quarter as good as the one he scored against blues, if that.

Hutton should be on lower wages than Luke so swapping them makes sense.

Those wage figures a couple of pages back were interesting but they don't tie in with anything I can see and the £23m figure is wrong. The last PLC accounts under doug had the wages at £38.2m. Ozzjim's figures on another thread seemed more realistic.

This also reminds me, did we ever discover who were those 100+ people added to the wage bill when it jumped from £50m?

[Since Randy & MON joined Villa, this is the increase in our wages:
06/07 - £23m
07/08 - £50m
08/09 - £50m
09/10 - £80m
10/11 - £80m (estimated)
11/12 - £75m (estimated) +£5m manager payoffs.

The 08/09 figures are wrong, should be £70m.  The 06/07 figures are for 10 months as well.

I agree with Maz, it was a good goal but nowhere near the effort against the Blues.  If Cahill scores a better one than that in what remains of his career I will be astonished.

Different type of goal. Not delittling his goal against the Rags, far from it, it was magical. Beckham would have been proud of one on Saturday. Cahill knew exactly what he was doing and bent it into the top corner. Absolute class.

Can we stop talking about Gary Cahill, please? Still upsets me - the lad's absolute class. Forget Jagielka - if I was Arsene Wenger today I'd be offering £15m of the Fabregas cash to get him in.

Hutton/Luke Young. I'd do it. Hutton's five years younger, has the ability to bomb forward. I like Luke but we've seen the best of him, IMO.

Selling Luke Young and buying Hutton would be pointless and besides, who would we play at left back if Warnock ever got injured?

I'm with you two. Saturday was ok but the sort you see plenty of over the course of a season, certainly not a "wonder goal". The one against the Noses was a once in a lifetime effort.

Most strikers would consider themselves very fortunate to score a gil of the quality if the one against Blues.

Saturdays was a very good goal too. For a defender.

Yes, he certainly shoaled the strikers how to do it with that one.

Don't see us signing anyone else to be honest. I think McLeish will keep hold of Luke Young because of his experience, reliability and versatility. We're not going to sell anyone now, especially as it won't necessarily mean we'll have adequate funds raised for replacements.
