Mirror reporting fulham are looking to sign luke young and say Luke is up for the move - they also say mcleish wants to sign Hutton if he can raise the cash.

I'd be surprised if there was anything in that. Selling a right back and buying another right back would'nt solve the problem we have. We'd be better off trying to get rid of Beye, who was'nt even on the bench on Saturday and trying to bring in another midfielder.

Agreed, but no-one will buy Beye with the wages he's on. I'm sure AM wouldd like him gone but short of paying for him to leave we're stuck with him.

We can always send him out on loan for the season and contribute a part of his salary.
The question is, imagining that somebody actually wants him, is anybody willing (or stupid enough) to pay, let's say half his £40k salary?

thats it really. i'd say the sort of club interested in Beye would be championship level and how many of them would want or could afford to pay even half his wages? The likes of Blackpool last season were paying their top earners 20k a week.

He may have to consider offers now. He doesnt have a contract after next summer and he wont be impressing anybody by sitting on his arse for another year, so he might have to go and find some football somewhere in order to make sure he's still getting paid next season. Its not like he can expect big wages next season either.

However, I agree that we're probably stuck with the useless bollox until he walks away. Cheers MON. Another stellar bit of business there.

Judging from the comments Beye made a week or so back, doesn't sound like he plans to go anywhere sadly.

Didn't he have a chance to go to Ipswich on loan last season but refused to go ?

He did - presumably without a loss in wages too but with the opportunity to play regular football and he turned it down.

He'll be 34 in October, I doubt he's actually thinking about playing again.

Exactly

Beye is nearly 34 and on 42k per week for another season so who in there right minds would want to buy him??

he won't go out on loan and take a cut in wages and why should he when he signed a contract.

This might actually make sense given that (I think?) Young's contract is up next summer.  If we can wheel and deal a bit and get a younger replacement in for not much extra transfer outlay, and then balance that by having him on less money, then it's the right thing to do.

However, I'd guess at this being made up shit.  More likely is Cuellar going and us using those funds/freed up space on the wagebill for Hutton.

I wonder have Villa put Heskey and Beye (Hopefully free) on transfer list for club to look at in a list of players for sale.

What about also blaming the board that a) Gave MON too much power in the first place, and b) Sanctioned the Beye deal, plus other deals for which we are now paying the price.

Yes MON was partly to blame, but not entirely.

Hopefully now Arsenal have some cash, they might finally cough up for the Bolton defender. That should give us a couple of million. His wonder strike at the weekend was even better than the goal he scored for us against the Rags.

I think we've probably been trying to sell Beye for 12 months, no takers tells you all you need to know.

Everybody started with a clean slate , the problem with Beye , his slate was covered in £50 pound notes ...

How much are we expecting for that - 15% on the profit they make??

I agree with that as well

RL has to shoulder some of the responsibility for giving MON total control

I think Randy gave MON some leeway, OK - a LOT of leeway, when things were going well and we were showing contstant improvement.  What I think happened was as that rate of that improvement slowed, as it was inevitably going to, he also saw the stockpile of unused players and their wages growing and decided the two didn't add up.
