Now we know how Everton fans feel

Why have we not bought a player for over 2 years then?
Lets not get carried away eh  as i said earlier we have spent the 7th most on transfers this summer - not what we wanted to hear, not what we was sold by Gneeral and not what we think is good enough to be chasing the pack of 4/5/6/7 teams above us

But lets not forget we have some bloody good players here already

Top GK and International

2 x International CB's

Both full backs have been full internationals

Some fantastic kids who are a year more experienced and wiser

A brilliant goal machine up front

Could be better but lets face it could be sooooooooooooooooo much worse as well

good post Hookey, and that's why, despite being a little down hearing AM's press conference yesterday purely as a fan wanting exciting signings, there is still lots to make this season interesting. I'm going to be at peace once tomorrow gets underway. I know that the expectations are in check, but I also think that if this team, full of good players and promising kids, and that goal machine you mentioned is able to get going, we have a solid enough base to do something good this season. Upper mid table is realistic for us, but a good run in the cups would get everyone excited.

Some fantastic kids?

is 22 still classed as a kid?

Some of our youngsters are good but Albrighton and Clark aside they look pretty average to me namely Fonz, herd, Hogg,

Luke Young is probably entering his last season read the same for Dunne.

Warnock is a fuckwit with a brain the size of a pea

Collins takes the piss too often

Heskey is Heskey

gabby cant play with Bent

Our captain is a physical wreck

Stoke manager Tony Pulis: "We're looking for about five or six players, if we can. We could do desperately with getting those players in as quickly as possible but we have to do it within the structure we have at this club."

Tuncay wouldn't have been a bad shout, but Bolton are buying everyones cast-offs at the moment.

Michael Johnson from Citeh?

didn't he go to Leicester on loan?

I wouldn't expect you to see any positives in our squad.

Hark at the old woman.

I don't see a lot of good in our squad because half a dozen players apart it has mediocre written all over it.

You just carry on thinking our kids are great (just wait til we have to sell some of them and see what the transfer value is)

we have international quality centre halves oh hang on doesnt one of them play for a team ranked 112th in the world. Phew that's alright then, or perhaps we could sign the CH from Suriname or Bahrain as they are ranked higher.

We as fans can be very greedy. We havent even had a whole season from Bent yet but we're demanding more signings. On the football weekly podcast they said that Villa's form with bent reads something like played 16, won 7, drew 5, lost 4. That's not bad form.

I guess fans will never be completely satisfied (see Man U fans for example) but we should not forget the good players, promising youngsters and excellent facilities that we already have.

Agreed DL, but some of us miserable old buggers are worried in case this is the start of us losing what we have gained under RL's tenure and an imminent return to the bad old days...

maybe so, but how many of the goals in those games were either set up or scored by young or downing?

You did notice that we've sold Young, Downing and seen Carew and NRC leave the club, right?

Ash is the big one as he was so good and offered so much. I think N'Zogbia will be more than good enough to replace Downing. Carew didn't do anything last season, and NRC was offered a deal and didn't accept it. Obviously we hope that the likes of Delph or Bannan or Ireland steps into his spot. Not the same type of player, but it's not like we're without a replacement. Like you, I would rather we got in 2 or 3 more experienced pros that add depth and quality and place so much emphasis on the kids or players where question marks exist. I will shit myself from a high perch if Bent got injured as Gabby is the best of what's left, and Darren Bent he ain't.

What'll we do without Carew?!?!

And I'd rather N'Zogbia than Downing any day of the week.  NRC has taken his ego and pay cheque elsewhere, and opened a spot for Gardner.  The past his prime Friedel has been replaced by a hungry Shay Given. The only player we are likely to miss is Young...which isn't good but come on.  Try a smile.  That's it.

NRC was offered a deal and didn't accept it. True, but how about replacing him with someone else?

In fact, why not use the contract offered to NRC to attract a replacement for him? That 40 grand a week or whatever it was must still be available, right?

If that's wildly wrong, I'd like to point out that finance isn't my thing.

In the squad there is a gaping defensive midfielder size hole as I do not think the current senior players or any of our youth are naturals in this position. If we do not address this position in this window then I think we are making a mistake.

With the other areas I'm happy to go with what we have and maybe look at it again in January once Bannan/Ireland/Clark/fonz have hopefully had a decent number of games to prove their worth.
