Our fullbacks are shit, our central midfielders are average at best and our goalie didn't play a league game last season. Whereas Begovic had a decent season......

Our full backs are not shit and better than Stokes. Our centre halves are on par with theirs, our central midfielders, even if we lack a defensive midfield specialist are better than theirs, Begovic is a good keeper but you wouldn't find many people saying Given isn't better, regardless of how many games he played last season, our forwards and wide players are far superior.

Stoke knit well together and are doing some good business for them but saying they are stronger than we are is utter bollocks.

Did Begovic play? Every time I saw them Tommy Plum was in the sticks.

I havent seen an english player better than Beckham in the last 10 years. From club football through to the national side, none of them are worthy to lace his boots.

At some points in the last ten years he probably was the best English player at times, but there have been players who have been better at other points, and others who have been consistently better too.  Look at Wayne Rooney's goal scoring record for example, or Frank Lampard's, whose goal scoring record for a midfielder has been nothing short of exceptional at club level.  It's all debatable of course, but saying that no other English player has been fit to lace his boots is clearly too much.  He's part of an elite group with the likes of Gerrard and Lampard who are clearly all excellent players, and all of had their ups and downs over the last ten years.

I'm considering Beckham's performances for England too and in that time he was practically a one man show who led by example. None of other so called golden generation held a candle to him. Obviously a lot of players have been successful at club level. Beckham can also say that, at several different clubs and leagues.

We only have on decent forward one has been, a forward who goes missing every other season and the next Luke Moore. We have one decent wide player and one that shows promise. The fact that there defense outperformed ours by quite a few goals also suggests you're also talking some bollocks.

Lampard and Gerrard have performed very well for their club sides, but once settled have not dared leave their comfort zones (call it loyalty if you like), Beckham has played very well for 3 of the biggest club sides in the world in 3 different countries and has completely put them in the shade when it comes to England performances.

Individually Stoke are poorer than us, but they played far more like a team than we did last season, they still only finished around where we did in a bad season?

Ashley Cole has been a very consistent England performer, and has done the business at club level as well.  Beckham has also been in semi-retirement playing in a dire league for the last 5 years, and didn't really set the world alight in Spain.

Begovic played most of the league games, Sorensen played in the cup.

I'm not arguing Beckham has done anything in the last few years. Ashley Cole has been successful in one league and his England performances have never matched the level of Beckham in his pomp.
Also, he may not have set Spain alight but still managed to win the league with them and playing well.

His record dwarfs most players including Cole.

Reading that back you're right. My only defence at the moment is that I'm using my iPhone! Usually my posts have so many amendments as I'm usually quite anal about spelling and punctuation to be honest. Anyway back to the squad, apart from Bent who else do we have up front? Defensively last season we were shocking, and apart from N'Zogbia we're lacking for delivery from the flanks!

Nothing to do with us but thought I would post it anyway -

Carlos Tevez is set to move to Inter Milan on loan - if the Serie A club sell Samuel Eto'o to Anzhi Makhachkala.
Full story: talkSPORT

Eto'o has agreed personal terms with Anzhi Makhachkala - and will become the highest-paid player in the world on wages of £300,000 a week.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Probably a complete pile of dung but I’d never heard of Anzhi Makhachkala until recently, it seams that they are now owned by a billionaire and looking at there squad they’ve got some decent players. Roberto Carlos, Zhirkov, and Boussoufa. Would certainly be a coup if Eto’o ended up there as he could grace a better league than Russias.
