SWP was a decent prospect, but was bigged up into a superstar by our tabloid media and his silly dad. He clearly isn't a top class player, more an average premier league winger with the added negative of not being able to cross the ball.

SWP is an okay player. He'd be an okay option for us. He would be good competition for Albrighton if AM wants to play two wingers.

However SWP would want £50-70k a week! That sort of money needs to be reserved for our top players, not another squad player. A definite no from me.

I'd expect him to take a drop in wages like Given did. Whether he'd rather do that, or stay on Man City's bench, I don't know. But nobody else is going to pay him £70-£80k a week. Not unless he goes somewhere like the UAE/Qatar/Russia anyway.

SWP isn't that bad. He goes missing in games, but honestly what winger doesn't? He can still do damage but I don't know if the fire is still there. He's too old for my liking and he'd be on some hefty wages too. I'd rather take a flyer on an unknown than give SWP a place to wind down his career.

If we can afford to pay Shaun Wright-Phillips then we can afford to pay another winger.

One who might well be younger and better. And both of those qualities shouldn't be too hard to manage.
