Always makes me laugh when fans who pay to watch football describe someone who earns £70000 a week in wages as absolutely shit.

Bit like a northampton fan saying man utd are shit.

He's better than I am at football, I'm not denying that.

However he is nowhere near good enough to play for the Villa - hence the reason I think he is shit.

hopefully if he does join us you will give the guy a chance, having played for chelseas city and england id be more worried that hed see villa as a step down rather than too good for him-just in case you didnt realise we have won nowt for 15 yrs , one title in 100 years and one fa cup in the last 80 yrs or more -we are not real madrid, and our best players have been queueing up to jump ship in recent years.

Our days of signing the likes of SWP are long gone I think.

I think our days of signing anyone are over

Of course we are not Real Madrid - what a fucking stupid comment/comparison to make.

It doesn't matter who he currently plays for or who he did play for in the past - he is not good enough to play for Villa NOW. 4/5 years ago and yeah I'd have said he was a good signing - but he fucked it all up for the money, and has lost that desire to want to improve or do anything. Another good example being Steve Sidwell.

No stupider than comparing Wright-Phillips with Chadwick though!

I didn't compare them as such - I used him as another example of a winger who we shouldn't sign because he is not good enough either.

I think Wright-Phillips is easily good enough. Still it's all about opinions, he could be the next Tony Morley or the next Daveeeeed Ginola. I reckon if we signed him you'd be pleasantly surprised. Certainly an offer of a loan deal seems a sensible option to me.

It seems that Stoke City are going to sign Palacios from Spurs (according to @gregfarrimond). I'd consider him a replacement and an upgrade on NRC, and someone who would fit into our squad perfectly at the moment.

Totally agree, having seen him a couple of times for city in the last week he looks hungry and fit and i must admit i was very impressed with him - as for having lost his desire -what bollocks!

just because someone is not in the 1st team doesnt mean they have lost the desire -he would probably come here with a point to prove like dunne did if anything.

Palacios would be excellent for us. What's the point in him going to Stoke? He'd just get a sore neck.

i would agree but we dont have £10m to spend and sadly stoke are now competing for players we can only dream of getting.

Things must've really gone quiet on the rumour mill if we have two pages on a SWP. I read that he won't be loaned, and our spending is over,so we may as well speculate on us signing Hot shot Hamish!

Just seeing Nolan playing for West Ham,I swear I heard that we tried to sign him at the death, and this came from Nolan himself. Shame,he'd be far better than Stab nowadays.
