SWP is probably on 70k a week at Shitty, why would we want to lumber ourselves with the little man's big money??  Realistically?  Ranger's have tabled a £1.5 mill bid for Verhoek which will not be considered until after the weekend.  Realistic enough?  The difference in wages/transfer or loan fee/ signing on fee would be comparable to selling a player.  He's younger and unknown to Premiership defenders, whereas SWP is a pony that defenders have been flogging for years.

Was'nt McCleish after Verhoeck while he was at Small Heath? Hopefully at that price, he'll still be interested, that's if the figure is correct, it sounds a bit too cheap for someone as highly rated as he is over there.

Three years ago a poll on here said most Villa fans wanted him more than Milner. He's struggled to get into the Man City team but so would most players. He would now be a lot cheaper as a result and if he could get anywhere near the form he showed in his first spell at Man City he would be a great signing. Well worth a gamble I reckon. As you well know Wright-Phillips has always been a lot better than Chadwick you cad.

I think it's mostly agreed that we need another winger and if anything happens to either Zoggy or Albrighton, i'd rather have SWP come on and play wide than Gabby or Heskey.

well said clampy , swp would be much more suited playing wide than gabby or heskey and having seen him in preseason twice i think swp is looking quite hungry and sharp unlike young marc.

When SWP broke through at City he was a cracking player, Chelsea ruined him. On a purely footballing basis I think he would add something, and would take the pressure off Albrighton.

The worry would be finances, and in particular his wages, he must be on big money at Man City, and if we are struggling to add players due to the wage bill then I would prioritise those wages for a commanding midfielder. Or else sign a couple of players like Verhoeck on more sensible wage deals.

All SWP does is run up and down the wing. Never has a fucking clue what to do with the ball.

I thought Chelsea had ruined Parker but he's still good. SWP would have to take a Given-like pay cut to join us, we would still have to pay a fairly hefty £40-£50k a week but we could make up for that by acquiring him at a knockdown price of £4-£5m, maybe even get him on loan with a view to a permanent move? I wouldn't mind trying a similar deal with Bellamy, although the fact he is a complete arsehole puts me off a bit.

To be honest i dont think james would come back here in any case and his wages would be miles beyond us.

OK whatever happens with Milner one thing is for sure. There is no way Man C will sell him/loan him to a "competitor club" such as  Manu  , Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool. Their strategy is two fold  to buy best players and stop best players going to rivals.

Is that why they were prepared to loan adebayor to spurs?

ive seen swp lay on loads of goals from crosses - do you think hed play for top clubs and england if he couldnt cross the ball?

im all for constructive criticism but people who say hes shit and cant cross are talking rubbish - maybe hes not consistent which is a valid argument but he has created loads of goals at city and is a crowd favourite still.

That would be a simple view however where as Milner would bring steadfastness to any team Adebayor brings disruption. So yes lend him out to a close rival and mess up their dressing room and job done.

He is shit, and he can't cross, he should be made to play with a guide dog as he finds himself down so many blind alleys. He used to be a good player, but his career has stalled for the best part of 4 years because he choose to put wealth before playing football.

Exactly the kind of player we should not be signing. See also Bridge, Wayne.

i doubt milner would leave city for anyone outside the top 6 and i doubt anyone outside the top 6 could afford him either.

Our days of signing the likes of SWP are long gone I think.

And therein lies the problem with signing for Citeh.

Do you think any of their future targets will consider this before signing for them?

No, me either.
