Sky sports "understands" there's no truth to the rumour in Sneijder to man city deal. If it turns out to be true though, wonder what that means for someone like Milner who's desperate to get first team football?

Hmmm...I wonder?

Nice thought isn't it? I really hope they do get him or nasri.

mancini has said this week he sees milner as a key member of his squad-no chance they would let him come here -pie in the sky!

bellamy or swp  would be loaned out but definately not milner , and from his interview last week hes loving life at city -get over him , its a pipedream.

We'll see I guess.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Milner end up at Arsenal. He'd do a super job in the middle of the park for them if they lost both Nasri and Fabregas. You know what you're getting with Milner. He's still the right age, Arsenal can afford him, and for Milner he'll still get CL football, as well as regular first team football in a season where playing consistently is critical ahead of the Euros. I want him back with us as much as anyone, but right now, where we are as a club and what we can offer, we're firmly in his rear view mirror.

its nice to dream i agree but trust me midnite i have better to dream of than james milner -a top class player for us i agree, but part of our past not present or near future im sad to say.

milner would be a top class signing for arsenal i agree.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/05/manchester-city-roberto-mancini

I've not seen the interview you're referring to Eastie but this one, whilst not mentioning Milner specifically, suggests that Mancini wants to buy players in his positions.

He reckons Man City have a squad of 20 players!!! So it implies that there are some current players that do not exist to him. It'll interesting to see whether Milnervreplaces Viera as first reserve CM...

Regardless, I think the Arsenal option above could work for all parties (except villa). Shame.

mancini has refused to loan out swp as he said he needs to bring in a wide player 1st before letting sw go-milner started against inter in citys 3-0 win and looked very good in a team starting with toure, de jong, balotelli, silva, dzeko and is hardly a fringe player as are swp and bellamy.

To be honest i dont think james would come back here in any case and his wages would be miles beyond us.

I was thinking the same thing regarding Milner and Arsenal.

What a pity we couldn't keep that team together and add Bent and another dimension from midfield.  We could've been a contender!

Also, seeing Young in a Man Utd shirt has fucked me right off and unexpectedly so I must say.

I can accept the Young move as hard as it is to take. Watching him play for Man U in the US tour with full houses every game, and scoring freely, you can understand why he'd want to take that challenge. He's given us solid service and we simply cannot give him that in his career. He was class in how he left too. Downing on the other hand is a wanker and I hope he doesn't get close to his ambitions at Liverpool.

Just don't see Milner as an Arsenal player - not as a CM anyroad.

And yes, just seeing Ash in a Man U top is galling. And the patter he was coming out with: 'Once I knew Alex Ferguson wanted me, there was no decision to make.' Really? So even when you were playing for us you were thinking of them? Pulling yourself off (via webcam no doubt) to  Fergiescum whispering sweet nothings in your ear?

And Ash is one of the good guys.  I really do not fancy MOTD and the like next year, if they're salivating over him with the usual vigour reserved for the North West red cants.  To their mind, his football career has probably only really started now.

On a (possibly) brighter note, now that Lukaku finally looks like he's on his way to Chelsea, could that free up Sturridge?

Milner isn't fit to lick Fabregas' boots.
Maybe one of Nasri's.

I feel very sad and disappointed that despite the fact were lacking in certain areas and sold some top players that weve resorted to talk about other teams as we know its unlikely we will sign anyone else!

true and equally sad we are wondering if we will have £2m available to sign a player to boost the squad or have to make do as we are.

I can't honestly see how we can go into the season without buying 1-2 players that will make us more solid defencively.

OK whatever happens with Milner one thing is for sure. There is no way Man C will sell him/loan him to a "competitor club" such as  Manu  , Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool. Their strategy is two fold  to buy best players and stop best players going to rivals.

I still think we will have another big signing or two, but keeping it quiet until he is available.
