The young ones will never get any better without experience.Championship loans won't do it , they need to be making mistakes learning from them and progressing.

We need to be playing our part and supporting them and who knows how good that can be but it must be better than spending days on the thread saying why hasn't suchabody signed.
Wise words indeed oldtimer!
The prospect of seeing some of our younger players (Albrighton, Clark, Bannan, Hogg etc) developing as senior players is exciting. They've shone at youth and reserve team level and , other than going out on loan, getting a few games in the first team is the next logical step. Increasing their play time as they get more experience follows on from that. I expect to see all those mentioned getting more games this season. I'd like to see Gardner be given a few chances this year too so that he can become a more permanent fixture the season after. (when we break into the top 4 and win the FA Cup with a young exciting team!!!)

Personally I think Clark is a potential villa captain and if we hold on to him will become a huge player in future years for us.

He should definitely be in the squad this season and be given the chance to experience and adjust to the Prem. He looked good against Chelsea last week for the short time he was on.

Clarke and Bannan definately will be good enoough but need the chance now, Hogg and Gardner I have grear hope for, but for me, Marc Albrighton needs to take a good look at himself.

Dunno what's up with him. He seems lacking in the energy n spark he surprised teams with last season. Perhaps he needs a bottle of that super Lucozade stuff?

I have my doubts about some of the youth, but out of the current crop we have pushing for places, I actually most like the look of Bannan.  I think Ireland could be good for us if it works out for him early on in the season, but I also expect Bannan to be pushing him for his place if it doesn't.  One thing i would say about wee Barry though, I still prefer him to play in the middle rather than out wide, especially if your going to have another fairly lightweight option in Albrighton in the same team.  His size is irrelevant as he has the awareness to find space and pick out a pass, whereas I think Marc is slightly more one dimensional.

We have Given, Young, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Makoun, Petrov, Ireland, Gabby, N'Zogbia, Bent with Guzan, Marshall, Beye, Cuellar, Delph and Heskey in reserve so we'd have to be seriously struggling injury wise for 3/4 of the younger players to be starting, never mind 5/6.

youngsters

Clark and Gardner will be top players for us , Bannon has a 65/35 chance to be a prem player , maybe with Villa hopefully .

Albrighton looked the business 12 mths ago and looked like he was going to be the next 20 million pound player , lately he has stopped taking the viagra but I still have hope for the boy..

The fonz , I am not sure but needs a run . Maz always says hes going to be a top player , so I hope Maz is right .

The rest Im not sure but Lichaj I think could be a regular RB for us .

Bannan if playing should play centrally behind Bent for me, would be the most effective role for him and not mean that we need to worry about his side. Played there he can be anything he wants I reckon, but he needs games there, and needs confidence.

Albrighton is a class act potentially. His crossing is first rate. Form is temporary and one of the most worrying things in these parts is people writing off young Marc. All young players hit a wall and have to come again, he is there at the moment. The trouble with the frankly insane current stance on transfers is that Albrighton got plenty of game time last season without us being reliant on him. Now we have lost our 2 best players, and only replaced one, thus meaning it is all on his shoulders, which is the biggest threat to him maturing as he could. Problem is young players burst through with no fear, then seem to get more reluctant to do the things they did at first. We need to give him the chance to recapture that.

Lichaz - I would have him as first reserve for Young, and if Warnock falters at left back I would have him in. Potentially he is a premiership right back, did well at Leeds and could end up being first choice. Big season for him.

Clark - no doubt he will both make it, and be a top player. I would be sorely tempted to play him in front of the back 4. He is quality, and pretty decent going forward too. Pigeon holing him as a centre half is short sighted, think he is probably the best of the ones we have seen so far.

Delfouneso - Losing faith a bit. Fingers crossed, and like him as a player, but actually thin getting some game time wide of a 3 could do him good. Needs to take the chances he is given with both hands.

Last but not least - Gardner - most exciting of the lot for me. Physical presence, eye for a pass and scores goals. Without buying anyone in midfield, I hope he is thrown in this season early doors and given his chance.

Herd, Hogg - not good enough.

Not included Delph, he is already a first team player for me after Reo Coker went. Delph, Makoun, Ireland would be the starting 3. But I would expect Bannan to quickly oust Ireland if he is not performing, and ditto Gardner for Delph or Makoun.

Very good Ozzjim, I must say I have to agree with all of that.
I can't wait to see Gardner  get a decent run at some stage. He is being hyped up a bit on here but he looked very comfortable when he came on v Chelsea. An exciting prospect indeed.

Ye like that general assesment Ozzjim. Would actually like to see Delph behind Bent. He can go round players in one move. And for Leeds scored some top goals .....
